Health score is for adult use as intended, per the manufacturer's SDS. It does not model child ingestion, accidental spill cleanup, or off-label use. See the safety panel below for full hazard classification, and /disclaimer for the full editorial scope.
GHS hazard codes are quoted from the manufacturer’s Safety Data Sheet. PPE tiers below translate those codes and the listed ingredient chemistry; they are not CarCareTruth recommendations.

Only when: splash risk
Beyond SDS: translated from the ingredient chemistry
SDS Section 2 classifies the product as not hazardous under OSHA HazCom 2012, with no eye-hazard GHS code (no H318/H319) at mixture level, and Section 11 confirms only slight, transient eye irritation for the base stock. The situational tier reflects the physical splash risk of pouring and draining oil during a change, not a mixture-level eye-hazard classification. Section 8 separately lists safety glasses with side shields as minimum industrial protection.
CarCareTruth publishes the cited sources verbatim and does not advise what action a user should take. Consult the full SDS before use.
Only when: prolonged use
Beyond SDS: translated from the ingredient chemistry
SDS Section 2 carries no skin-hazard GHS classification (no H315/H317/H314) at mixture level, and Section 11 confirms only 'may cause skin irritation and/or dermatitis' from prolonged or repeated contact rather than a mixture-level classification. Section 8 specifically names glove types (Neoprene, Nitriles) for skin protection during handling. The situational tier reflects prolonged or repeated pour and drain contact during an oil change, not a mixture-level skin hazard.

Only when: in enclosed space
Beyond SDS: translated from the ingredient chemistry
Section 2 classifies the product as not hazardous under OSHA HazCom 2012, with no H330/H331/H334/H335 at mixture level, and the oil is non-volatile at ambient temperature (flash point above 200 degrees C, COC, per Section 9). Section 8's respiratory language ('If exposure limits are exceeded or irritation is experienced, NIOSH/MSHA approved respiratory protection should be worn') is standard SDS boilerplate rather than a scenario-specific control. The situational tier translates that boilerplate and the non-volatile chemistry into a cautious precaution for pouring or draining oil in a closed garage, not a mixture-level inhalation hazard.

No PPE specified in published sources for ventilation. Absence does not imply “not needed” — consult the full Safety Data Sheet.
PPE tiers translate the manufacturer’s SDS and U.S. regulatory standards. Not professional safety advice. How we report safety.
Scope of these PPE tiers. The tiers on this page translate the product's Safety Data Sheet where one is published, plus its ingredient chemistry, into a comparable rating. They describe a formulation, not a situation: a tier is not a safety determination for any specific user, task, quantity, or environment. The manufacturer's label and use instructions govern how the product is handled. Where the product is used at work, the employer's PPE program and hazard assessment under 29 CFR 1910.132 decide what protection is selected, not this page.

TL;DR API SP + ILSAC GF-6A certified, with a named Ford WSS-M2C961-A1 approval, backward compatible with Ford WSS-M2C946-B1. Full synthetic from Idemitsu, a genuine OEM factory-fill supplier to Honda, Toyota, Subaru, and Nissan. No numeric drain-interval claim on the label, so treat this as a standard-interval oil, not an extended-drain one. Carries a trace-level California Prop 65 warning.
Idemitsu Full Synthetic 5W-30, sold under Idemitsu's IFG 3 line, is certified to API SP and ILSAC GF-6A, with a named Ford WSS-M2C961-A1 approval that also covers Ford's earlier WSS-M2C946-B1 requirement. Idemitsu makes no mileage claim for this oil, so it is a standard OEM-interval product, not a long-drain specialty one. The manufacturer's data sheet confirms a highly refined base stock consistent with genuine full synthetic, though it does not name an exact API base-stock group.
Best for 2015-2020 Ford F-150 owners running the 2.7L or 3.5L EcoBoost V6, which specify 5W-30 and are covered by this oil's Ford approval, and for other gasoline engines that call for API SP or ILSAC GF-6A in 5W-30. Skip it if you need a named GM dexos1, Honda, or Chrysler approval for warranty paperwork; confirm those against Idemitsu's own literature before relying on this oil for them.
The Safety Data Sheet classifies this product as not hazardous under OSHA's 2012 standard: no signal word, no GHS hazard codes at the mixture level. It carries a trace-level California Prop 65 warning, disclosing seven regulated substances each under 0.0001% by weight, well below what drives its own hazard rating. The Safety Data Sheet on file is a combined document covering both pack sizes Idemitsu sells under this formulation: a 12-count 1-quart case in its first half and, in its second half, the 4x5-quart pack (product code 30013015-95300C020) that matches this bottle's own SKU, with identical hazard and ingredient data in both halves. The SDS on file was last revised in 2020, over six years ago; the hazard information here reflects that revision and may not capture any additive changes since. ZDDP, the additive common to motor oil, factors into the environmental score below. Used oil goes to collection, not the drain; AutoZone, O'Reilly, and most municipal hazardous-waste facilities accept it free.
Yes, for the 2.7L and 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engines, which specify a 5W-30 grade. This oil carries Ford WSS-M2C961-A1, which the manufacturer states is backward compatible with Ford WSS-M2C946-B1, the approval Ford's own owner's manual cites for those engines. It is not the right oil for the 3.3L or 3.5L naturally aspirated V6 or the 5.0L V8, which specify 5W-20, or for the 3.0L Power Stroke diesel, which needs a diesel-rated oil regardless of the viscosity number printed on the bottle.
More than one bottle. Both the 2.7L and 3.5L EcoBoost take 6.0 quarts with the filter, per Ford's owner's manual, and this is a 5-quart bottle. Buy two bottles, or a 5-quart plus a single quart, to cover the full change with a bit left over for topping off.
Yes, but at trace levels. The Safety Data Sheet on file discloses seven substances under California's Proposition 65 reporting rules, each at under 0.0001% by weight -- far below the concentration that drives the product's own hazard classification, which is 'not classified' under GHS. California's Prop 65 has no minimum-exposure exemption for these substances, so the warning is a regulatory disclosure at a trace level, not a signal that the oil poses meaningful health risk in normal pour-and-drain handling.
API SP is a current gasoline-engine service category (not the newest, which is API SQ with ILSAC GF-7A, launched in 2025, but still valid and current for most 2020-and-earlier engines). ILSAC GF-6A adds fuel-economy and chain-wear protection requirements on top of API SP. Together they cover deposit control and oxidation stability for most naturally aspirated and turbocharged gasoline engines that specify a 5W-30 grade.
Idemitsu Lubricants America is a genuine OEM factory-fill supplier -- it manufactures the transmission fluid, power steering fluid, and other specialty lubricants that ship inside many new Honda, Toyota, Subaru, and Nissan vehicles from its Jeffersonville, Indiana plant. This consumer-branded motor oil, sold under Idemitsu's IFG 3 line, uses the same manufacturing operation, though it is not itself an OEM factory-fill contract product for Ford specifically -- it earns Ford compatibility through its own WSS-M2C961-A1 approval.

Per manufacturer cross-reference, not a physical test fit. A single generation often forks by engine, trim, and market.
Check this against your owner's manual before you buy
⚠ Confirmed for the 13th-gen F-150 engines that specify a 5W-30 grade: both 2.7L EcoBoosts and all three 3.5L EcoBoosts, including the High-Output 3.5L. The 3.3L and 3.5L Ti-VCT V6 and the 5.0L V8 take 5W-20 and are deliberately not listed here. The 3.0L Power Stroke diesel also carries a 5W-30 spec number, but a diesel engine needs a diesel-rated oil, and a gasoline ILSAC jug like this one does not substitute for that at any viscosity.
