- Are these car-care tools really free?
- Yes. Every lookup here is free, with no account, no email, and no paywall. We make money through affiliate links when you choose to buy a part, not by charging for the tools. The lookup is never the product.
- Do I need to sign up?
- No. Pick your year, make, and model (or paste a VIN for recalls) and you get the answer on the spot. Signing in only matters for community features like saving your garage or writing a review.
- How accurate is the fitment data, and where does it come from?
- We only publish a spec once we have cross-checked it against at least two independent sources, like two filter makers listing the same part for your car, or two verified databases agreeing on a wiper size. When sources disagree, we flag it and hold off rather than guess. For anything safety-critical, we tell you how confident we are.
- What is the door-jamb sticker, and why do you keep pointing me to it?
- It is the placard your car's maker prints on the driver's door frame (and the fuel-filler door for some specs). For tires it lists the factory size and the correct cold PSI for your exact build, and it overrules anything online, including us. We surface it as the final word any time a tool could conflict with it.
- Should I use my VIN or my year, make, and model?
- Year, make, and model works for almost every lookup and is faster if you know your car. A VIN is required for the recall checker because NHTSA ties recalls to individual vehicles. For fitment, your trim and engine matter more than the VIN, so enter those when asked.
- Are the parts links affiliate links?
- Yes. When a tool points you to a specific filter, bulb, or fluid, that link goes through an affiliate program (mainly Amazon Associates), and we earn a small commission if you buy, at no cost to you. It never changes which part we show you or how we rank products. Fitment comes first.
- What if my car isn't covered yet?
- Coverage grows every week as each spec clears our sourcing bar. Some trims are harder to source than others, so a few finders are still thin. If yours is not covered, the finder tells you straight instead of guessing.
