Custom-fit mats are laser-measured or 3D-scanned to the exact floor well of a specific vehicle generation. They cover edge-to-edge with no exposed carpet, retain anchors to factory hold-down posts, and contain liquid without it seeping under the mat. Universal mats are trimmed-to-fit and leave gaps at sills and pedals — they are cheaper but a poor substitute for a vehicle-specific fit.

Yes on the driver side. An unanchored driver-side mat can slide forward into the pedal area and interfere with braking or acceleration — that is a real safety hazard. A mat that does not have anchor compatibility with your vehicle is not a safe choice for the driver position.

Are rubber floor mats bad for the environment?
