Optimum is the consumer-facing brand of Optimum Polymer Technologies, Inc. (OPT), a Memphis-based polymer chemistry company founded by Dr. David Ghodoussi, an organic chemist whose background runs deep into the polymer science behind ceramic coatings. The brand is unusual in detailing for being chemist-led rather than marketing-led — David and his team formulate in-house and the product line is conservative in scope and consistent in feel. OPT's two breakthroughs are Opti-Coat (the professional ceramic coating system that started the consumer-grade ceramic boom in the early 2010s) and Optimum No Rinse (ONR), a no-rinse car wash chemistry that's now copied across the industry. The wider Optimum line extends the same polymer-first thinking into spray sealants, polishes, and tire dressings — all designed to layer with each other and with Opti-Coat.
