From the manufacturer’s Safety Data Sheet, Section 8
“The aerosol format meets the lungs situational threshold per the rubric (aerosol + any solvent content, regardless of H335 absence). SDS §8 states no special requirements; SDS §2 Other Hazards notes spray mist may cause respiratory irritation in a confined space. Trigger: enclosed car cabin with windows up.”

TL;DR Reliable streak-free results on uncoated glass, but not safe for cars with aftermarket window tint or hydrophobic glass coatings. Ammonia is confirmed in this formula and degrades adhesive-backed tint film and hydrophobic treatment layers with repeated use.
This product contains ammonia, which rules it out for any car with aftermarket adhesive-backed tint, ceramic glass coating, or a rain-repellent treatment. On bare glass it performs well: the aerosol foam clings to vertical surfaces so it doesn't drip during application, and owners consistently report single-pass, streak-free results on mirrors and windows. Interior windshield performance on light-to-moderate contamination is strong; no independent source confirms it clears heavy outgassing film from older or very hot car interiors. Technique is forgiving: spray, wipe once, done.
The right buy for cars without aftermarket tint, ceramic glass coatings, or rain-repellent treatments, where fast streak-free results on a budget matter most. Skip it if your car has any of those coatings. Ammonia-free aerosol alternatives exist at similar price points for tint-safe cleaning.
WARNING signal word from flammable aerosol propellants, not the cleaning chemistry. The safety data sheet specifies no eye, skin, or respiratory protection for normal use; aerosol mist in a closed cabin can cause mild irritation, so crack a window when cleaning interior glass. Both primary SDS-disclosed ingredients are readily biodegradable; formula reaches drain via cloth laundering.
The Safety Data Sheet for Windex Fast Shine Foam Glass Cleaner carries a WARNING signal word, with classified hazards including H222 (extremely flammable aerosol); H280 (contains gas under pressure; may explode if heated). See the PPE breakdown above for use-case-specific guidance translated from the SDS hazard codes.
CarCareTruth scores Windex Fast Shine Foam Glass Cleaner at 7.5 out of 10 on the composite CCT score, with a health sub-score of 9.0/10. The CCT score blends real-world effectiveness, ingredient health impact pulled from the manufacturer's safety sheet, and environmental footprint against a published category rubric. See the methodology link on this page for the full scoring breakdown.
