TL;DR Reliable, streak-free glass cleaner from Meguiar's with a 2-butoxyethanol co-solvent that adds film-cutting action beyond a basic IPA formula. Not classified as hazardous by OSHA — no GHS signal word, no H-codes. Apply with good ventilation due to 2-butoxyethanol's occupational exposure limits.
What it is and how it performs
Spray onto glass or a microfiber towel, wipe, and buff dry. Streak-free results are well-documented across a large Amazon verified review base and r/AutoDetailing. The 2-butoxyethanol co-solvent (1–5% per SDS §3) provides additional film-cutting action compared to IPA-only formulas, making it useful for interior windshields with accumulated outgassing film or light greasy buildup. Working ease is forgiving — standard trigger spray, normal glass microfiber towel technique applies. SDS §9 notes a "mild ammonia odor" as the product's character; this is noticeable during interior application and some community reviews flag it.
Who should buy this — and who should skip it
The right choice for anyone who wants a reliable, widely-available glass cleaner with a track record on both interior and exterior glass. The SDS discloses 2-butoxyethanol by CAS number, which is above average for a Meguiar's product. Skip it if you're sensitive to chemical scents in a closed cabin — the mild alkaline odor is noted in the SDS and confirmed by community use. The SDS lists only one named active (2-butoxyethanol at 1–5%) with an 80–100% non-hazardous trade-secret base, so full formula transparency is not available.
Safety and environmental impact
SDS §2 classifies this product as not hazardous under the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard — no signal word, no GHS H-codes, no pictograms. The safety glasses and ventilation guidance in SDS §8 are based on the presence of 2-butoxyethanol, which has occupational exposure limits (ACGIH TLV-TWA 20 ppm with an A3 animal carcinogen notation; OSHA SKIN notation for dermal absorption). These are occupational thresholds not relevant to brief trigger-spray use — the product's stated VOC is 3.00% by weight (~30 g/L), which is very low for a glass cleaner. Apply in a ventilated area per SDS §8.2.1. No Prop 65 warning; no PFAS; SDS §14 confirms no DOT hazmat classification for transport.
Frequently asked questions
Is Meguiar's Perfect Clarity safe for window tint?▾
SDS §3 does not list ammonium hydroxide — the formula's disclosed ingredients are water-based with 2-butoxyethanol as the only named active. The product is widely used on aftermarket tint without documented degradation reports. The SDS notes a 'mild ammonia odor' (SDS §9) but this is a product character note, not an ingredient disclosure. For high-value ceramic tint, spot-test first as with any solvent-based glass cleaner.
What causes the mild ammonia odor if it doesn't contain ammonia?▾
The 'Mild ammonia odor' described in SDS §9 is the product's general odor character. 2-Butoxyethanol — the only named active in SDS §3 — has a mild ether-like alkaline odor that can read as faintly ammonia-like. The product is not classified as a respiratory hazard in SDS §2, and no ammonium hydroxide appears in the ingredient disclosure.
The SDS says this product is 'not classified as hazardous' — what does that mean?▾
SDS §2 confirms this product meets no GHS hazard thresholds at its formulated concentration. The finished product carries no signal word, no H-codes, and no GHS pictograms. Safety glasses and ventilation are recommended based on the presence of 2-butoxyethanol (an occupational health concern at sustained high-dose exposure) rather than a confirmed product-level hazard classification.
How does Perfect Clarity compare to Invisible Glass?▾
Both are ammonia-free IPA/glycol-ether formulas with strong Amazon review bases. Invisible Glass is the higher-volume reference product with a larger community footprint on r/AutoDetailing. Perfect Clarity's differentiation is the 2-butoxyethanol co-solvent, which provides additional film-cutting action on greasy interior film. Performance is comparable for clean glass; Perfect Clarity may have a slight edge on heavily contaminated windshields.
What size and SKU is the standard version?▾
The most widely available retail size is G8224 (24 fl oz), sold as a trigger spray. A 16 oz version (G8216) exists with the same formula. G8224 is the standard retail SKU and the variant reviewed here.

It leaked but amazing product
On my Tesla model three desktop is amazing. I definitely buy it again. I’m not gonna take a start out of this one because taking a start off a different product and it just doesn’t seem fair to take it off of all of them but every product I ordered from them over a couple days was leaking when I got it. I took it off of another product on the review I think so. I’m not gonna do it again. But I absolutely love this product. It does not streak. It’s safe from a Tesla and the cleaning powers through the roof. I wish it would last a little longer. I ran out pretty quickly, but from a emotional personality standpoint, this stuff kicks ass.
