TL;DR 4·6 months of community-confirmed protection on a daily driver · label claims up to 12 months, forum testing lands at 4·6. Application is one of the easiest in the category, hand or machine, no streaking. WARNING-level chemistry; no Prop 65 chemicals (SDS §15).
JetSeal bonds to paint, glass, and metal to form a protective shield that beads water and leaves a high-gloss finish. Apply a thin layer by hand or DA polisher, let it haze, then buff off · the wipe-off window is forgiving with zero streaking reported. Community testing lands at 4·6 months on a regularly washed daily driver · a Utah winter field test was still beading at six months.
Buy it for 4·6 months of community-confirmed protection with a forgiving hand or machine application. Skip it if you need protection beyond 6 months · a ceramic spray delivers a longer window · or if spray-and-rinse convenience is the priority; JetSeal requires a cure and buff step.
WARNING signal word (SDS §2). H319 (Eye Irritation Cat 2A) at mixture level · eye protection is warranted per that GHS code. A petroleum-based solvent carrier is present; SDS §8 states outdoor-equivalent ventilation is adequate under normal conditions, but a closed garage warrants opening a door per the carrier chemistry. No H334/H335 at mixture level. VOC 45 g/L, CARB compliant. SDS §15 confirms no Prop 65 chemicals.
The label claims up to 12 months. Community long-term testing consistently finds 4·6 months of active beading on a daily driver washed weekly · confirmed by a 6-month Utah winter field test and multiple AutoGeek forum follow-ups. A single coat on a well-maintained daily driver with pH-neutral shampoo should deliver 4·6 months before reapplication is needed.
Both work without issue. Community owners consistently describe easy application and removal by hand or DA polisher with no streaking problems. Apply a thin layer with a foam applicator, allow to haze (a few minutes), then buff off with a microfiber towel · the wipe-off window is forgiving in normal conditions.
The formula includes a fluoropolymer additive (polytetrafluoroethylene) at up to 20% per the SDS. PTFE in macroparticle form is generally not classified as PFAS under current EPA definitions · shorter-chain fluorinated chemistries (C6-PFAS, GenX) are PFAS; macroparticle PTFE is not. The contains_pfas field is set to false based on this distinction.
The SDS classifies the product with a WARNING signal word · less severe than DANGER. The recognized health hazard at mixture level is H319 (eye irritation). The formula contains a petroleum-based solvent carrier (isoalkanes) at up to 30% · working in a closed garage warrants opening a door or window for airflow per the carrier chemistry. Outdoor or open-garage application requires no special precautions beyond normal handling.
Some the product listings show a Prop 65 warning for JetSeal · this is a documented false positive for Chemical Guys products. SDS Section 15 (revision 2019-04-14) explicitly states the product does not contain any chemicals known to California to cause cancer, birth defects, or reproductive harm. This is the 9th confirmed Chemical Guys Rainforest Prop 65 false positive documented at CCT.
