GHS hazard codes are quoted from the manufacturer’s Safety Data Sheet. PPE tiers below translate those codes and the listed ingredient chemistry; they are not CarCareTruth recommendations.

Only when: splash risk
Beyond SDS: translated from the ingredient chemistry
SDS §2 classifies the product as not hazardous · no H318 or H319 at mixture level. The situational tier reflects pour/drain splash risk during an oil change, not a GHS eye-hazard classification.
CarCareTruth publishes the cited sources verbatim and does not advise what action a user should take. Consult the full SDS before use.
Only when: prolonged use
Beyond SDS: translated from the ingredient chemistry
SDS §2 carries no mixture-level skin classification. SDS §16 declares a California Prop 65 reproductive-hazard warning at the product level, and used-oil skin exposure adds an IARC Group 1 mineral-oil-mist carcinogen pathway from combustion contaminants · the situational tier reflects those exposure pathways, not a GHS skin code.
CarCareTruth publishes the cited sources verbatim and does not advise what action a user should take. Consult the full SDS before use.
Only when: in enclosed space · hot panels
Translated from the manufacturer’s Safety Data Sheet, Section 8
SDS §8 states no special respiratory protection is needed under ordinary conditions of use with adequate ventilation, and only calls for a respirator if airborne concentrations exceed limits (aerosol/mist TWA 5 mg/m3) or ventilation is inadequate. Section 2 carries no H330/H331/H334/H335 at mixture level, so this is a ventilation-dependent precaution, not a mixture-level inhalation hazard.
CarCareTruth publishes the cited sources verbatim and does not advise what action a user should take. Consult the full SDS before use.
No PPE specified in published sources for ventilation. Absence does not imply “not needed” — consult the full Safety Data Sheet.
PPE tiers translate the manufacturer’s SDS and U.S. regulatory standards. Not professional safety advice. How we report safety.
Scope of these PPE tiers. The tiers on this page translate the product's Safety Data Sheet where one is published, plus its ingredient chemistry, into a comparable rating. They describe a formulation, not a situation: a tier is not a safety determination for any specific user, task, quantity, or environment. The manufacturer's label and use instructions govern how the product is handled. Where the product is used at work, the employer's PPE program and hazard assessment under 29 CFR 1910.132 decide what protection is selected, not this page.

TL;DR API SP + ILSAC GF-6A and GF-7A certified per Mobil's product page. GM dexos1:GEN3 Licensed, plus Ford WSS-M2C961-A1, WSS-M2C962-A1, and Chrysler MS-6395 in Mobil's recommended-for-use list. Label claims 10,000-mile drain for engines over 75,000 miles · no independent UOA data cited here. Prop 65 warning applies.
Full synthetic motor oil with a PAO Group IV base, targeted at engines past 75,000 miles. Mobil's product page confirms API SP plus ILSAC GF-6A and GF-7A certification · the current top-tier API/ILSAC spec set. The high-mileage additive package adds seal conditioners and additional detergents on top of the synthetic base. Mobil's label drain interval is 10,000 miles for engines above 75K; community UOA evidence specific to this product was not cited at the time of this review.
Best for 2020+ GM owners needing dexos1:GEN3 Licensed full synthetic, plus Ford and Chrysler owners whose service bulletins call out WSS-M2C961-A1, WSS-M2C962-A1, or MS-6395 · Mobil lists this oil as recommended for those applications. Consider an alternative if your OEM specifies Honda HTO-06 · that approval is not listed on Mobil's product page for this variant; cross-check against an OEM that does carry it. Skip if your engine has less than ~75,000 miles and you don't need the seal-conditioner additive package: a standard full synthetic at the same API/ILSAC spec is the more cost-effective choice.
The SDS classifies this oil as not hazardous under OSHA HazCom 2012 · no signal word, no H-codes at mixture level. H304 (aspiration) does not apply at the mixture level: KV40 of 63.35 mm²/s is well above the 20.5 mm²/s viscosity-exemption threshold. The SDS §16 declares a California Prop 65 warning for reproductive harm without naming the listed chemical, and no ingredient disclosed in §15 is on California's list, so the trigger is a trade-secret component we cannot identify. Used-oil skin contact carries IARC Group 1 mineral-oil-mist concern from combustion byproducts in occupational settings · minimize skin contact during drains. The SDS on file was last revised in March 2015 · 11 years old; the H-codes here reflect that revision, and the current formula's API SP / ILSAC GF-6A / GF-7A certifications postdate the SDS, so additive-package details may have changed. Used oil goes to collection · not down the drain or on the ground. AutoZone, O'Reilly, and most municipal hazardous-waste facilities accept it.
Yes. Mobil's official product page lists Mobil 1 High Mileage 5W-30 as 'GM dexos1:GEN3 Licensed.' That is the current GM approval required for most 2020+ GM gasoline vehicles to maintain powertrain warranty coverage. Confirm the GM dexos1 GEN3 mark on the bottle label before using for warranty-documentation purposes.
Mobil's product page lists both. Under 'Recommended for use in applications requiring,' the page includes Ford WSS-M2C945-B1, WSS-M2C946-B1, WSS-M2C947-B1, WSS-M2C960-A1, WSS-M2C961-A1, WSS-M2C962-A1, as well as GM 6094M and Chrysler MS-13340 and MS-6395. Note 'recommended for use in applications requiring' is Mobil's recommendation language; Ford/Chrysler issue their own approval lists, so for warranty-critical use confirm against the OEM's current approved-oil bulletin.
API SP is the current top-tier API gasoline category, succeeding API SN Plus. ILSAC GF-6A adds fuel-economy and timing-chain-wear protection on top of API SP. GF-7A (released March 2025) is the successor standard and the most recent ILSAC certification as of 2026. Mobil's product page lists both GF-6A and GF-7A for this oil · current vehicles specifying either GF-6A or GF-7A are covered.
Mobil markets the High Mileage line for engines with more than 75,000 miles · the additive package includes seal conditioners targeted at swelling aged elastomer seals to reduce drip-leak rates, plus additional anti-wear and detergent treats. The SDS §3 disclosure shows a lower percentage of declared PAO base stock (5-<10%) than the Extended Performance variant (20-<30%), reflecting more of the formula going to the high-mileage additive package. It remains a full synthetic per Mobil's product positioning.
The 10,000-mile interval is a moderate claim compared to Mobil 1 Extended Performance's 20,000-mile claim, and it sits within the range of mainstream synthetic OEM drain intervals. Community UOA data specifically for this product was not cited at the time of this review; the rubric caps drain_interval_performance at score 6 (label-aligned) without at least two independent UOA reports · that is the current score. Severe-duty driving (lots of short trips, towing, very hot or cold ambient) depletes oil life faster regardless of label claim.
The listing for Mobil 1 High Mileage Full Synthetic Motor Oil 5W-30 carries a California Prop 65 warning. Mobil 1 High Mileage Full Synthetic Motor Oil 5W-30 is a working automotive fluid rather than a passive part, so the warning points at the formulation itself. The manufacturer's Safety Data Sheet is the primary source for what is in it: the hazard classification and the PPE tiers on this page are translated from that sheet, and the full SDS is linked from the safety panel. California requires the warning whenever exposure to any of roughly 900 listed substances is possible. It does not name which substance applies to a given product, and it states no dose or risk level, so it is not on its own a measure of how hazardous this fluid is in normal use.
