TL;DR Ammonia-free, confirmed safe for tinted windows, and reliable for streak-free results, well-reviewed by owners on Amazon. No health hazard classification is available (no published safety data sheet was located); Rain-X discloses a Prop 65 warning on the product.
Rain-X Automotive Glass Cleaner is a pump-trigger spray for car windows, windshields, and mirrors. The bottle label confirms ammonia-free formulation, making it compatible with aftermarket tint and most glass coatings. Apply directly to glass and wipe with a microfiber or paper towel. Amazon's pool shows broadly positive streak-free results on both interior and exterior glass, well-reviewed by owners. A minority of reviews note hazing in direct sunlight, standard for any glass cleaner applied on a hot surface.
The right buy for anyone with aftermarket tint, hydrophobic coatings, or rain-repellent treatments. The ammonia-free formula avoids the compatibility risk that eliminates most glass cleaners from consideration. Skip it if full ingredient transparency matters: Rain-X has no published safety data sheet for this product. Stoner Invisible Glass and Adam's Polishes Glass Cleaner both have complete SDSs.
No GHS safety data sheet was located. The bottle label says "CAUTION: MAY CAUSE EYE IRRITATION," making eye protection relevant when cleaning overhead interior glass where spray mist reaches eye level. Rain-X discloses a Prop 65 warning tied to a confirmed listed ingredient. Residue exits via cloth laundering; no aquatic hazard confirmed.
CarCareTruth scores Rain-X Automotive Glass Cleaner at 6.6 out of 10 on the composite CCT score, with a health sub-score of 5.0/10. The CCT score blends real-world effectiveness, ingredient health impact pulled from the manufacturer's safety sheet, and environmental footprint against a published category rubric. See the methodology link on this page for the full scoring breakdown.
Per the Safety Data Sheet ingredient disclosure: 2-Butoxyethanol (CAS 111-76-2), Isopropyl Alcohol (CAS 67-63-0). From California Ingredient Disclosure SKU 630018, September 2019. No GHS SDS available; full formulation not disclosed.
