CarCareTruth's Analysis
Last reviewed May 16, 2026
TL;DR Stops squeaky door seals and binding weatherstripping — community confirms 1–2 months between treatments. No straw; tight-space application is messy. The propellant carries germ-cell mutagenicity and carcinogenicity classifications — the DANGER signal word is real. Wear nitrile gloves and safety goggles; use outdoors or with the car door open.
What it is and how it performs
Permatex 80070 lubricates door seals, window tracks, rubber weatherstripping, and bushings — stops friction, binding, and squeaking without attracting dust. Wide-fan nozzle sprays a foam, not a fine mist; no straw is included, making tight-gap work messy. Community reviews confirm it kills squeaks on first application and holds 1–2 months on outdoor door seals. Keep it off painted panels and any surface that may need bodywork — silicone residue prevents primer and paint from sticking.
Who should buy this — and who should skip it
Car owners with squeaky door seals, sticking window tracks, or binding weatherstripping. Skip it for metal-on-metal contact (hinges under load, fasteners, chains) — white lithium grease handles those. Never apply near brakes.
Safety and environmental impact
DANGER signal word: germ-cell mutagenicity (Category 1B) and carcinogenicity (Category 1A) from the propellant fraction, plus California Prop 65. SDS Section 8 specifies nitrile gloves and safety goggles; a NIOSH organic vapor respirator when ventilation is inadequate. Use outdoors or with a door open — vapors are extremely flammable. Environment 7.0: propane/butane propellant is VOC-exempt, petrolatum carrier non-volatile — lighter footprint than naphtha-carrier aerosol silicones.

Good lubricant for casement windows
The maker of my casement windows recommends this for keeping the hinges lubricated. Did a great job and left no residues.
