From the manufacturer’s Safety Data Sheet, Section 8
“H315 (Skin Irritation Cat 2) present in SDS §2. The petroleum-distillate carrier (15–35%) reinforces the recommendation. No H317 skin sensitizer — this is an irritation classification, not sensitization.”

From the manufacturer’s Safety Data Sheet, Section 8
“No H334, H335, H330, or H331 in SDS §2. H336 (STOT SE 3 — may cause drowsiness or dizziness) is present in §2. The paste form factor limits vapor generation compared to spray products. SDS §8 lists adequate ventilation under engineering controls.”

CarCareTruth's Analysis
Last reviewed May 26, 2026
TL;DR Community evidence puts this at 1–3 months of beading on a daily driver, not the 12 months on the label — the gap is the lead story. Standard paste-wax application, WARNING chemistry (not DANGER), and carnauba content that the SDS cannot confirm.
What it is and how it performs
Apply a thin film from the tin, wait for the haze to form, then buff off with a microfiber. The petroleum-distillate carrier (roughly a quarter of the formula) produces a mild solvent smell during application — the paste form factor limits vapor compared to sprays, but open-air work is the sensible approach. The kaolin (mild abrasive) in the formula helps remove very light oxidation during application.
The brand has marketed this wax as "#1-grade Brazilian carnauba" since 1989, but SDS §3 (2024 revision) does not list carnauba wax as a disclosed ingredient. The active wax in §3 is paraffin wax at ≤2.5%. The carnauba content, if present, may fall below the SDS disclosure threshold or be withheld as a trade secret. The result on paint — whatever the formula — is what the community actually reports: brand-site reviewers land at 1–3 months of beading on vehicles driven in rain and snow, a long way from the 12-month label claim. Amazon evidence is too thin to draw independent conclusions, and the 12 oz size is currently out of stock.
Who should buy this — and who should skip it
Buy this if you want a low-cost, no-obligation paste wax for a beater or fleet vehicle where quarterly reapplication is acceptable. Skip it if protection time is the goal — Collinite 476S delivers 7–10 months of community-confirmed durability for comparable cost and effort. Skip it as well if carnauba warmth and depth on dark paint is the draw — SDS §3 cannot confirm carnauba content, so the warm-glow result is not independently verifiable from the chemistry data.
Safety and environmental impact
The SDS carries a WARNING signal word. The relevant hazard codes at the mixture level are H302 (harmful if swallowed), H315 (skin irritation), H320 (mild eye irritation), and H336 (may cause drowsiness or dizziness). None of these are category-1 severity classifications. H304 (aspiration hazard), which appears for the petroleum-distillate ingredient in SDS §3, is suppressed at the product level because the paste viscosity exceeds the regulatory exemption threshold — H304 is not a mixture-level classification for this product. Proposition 65 does not apply per the Amazon listing. The SDS carries no carcinogens, reproductive toxins, or respiratory sensitizers at the mixture level. Environment is leave-on (paste wax weathers off the paint surface gradually); the estimated VOC from the petroleum-distillate carrier puts this in the 151–350 g/L bracket — mid-range for the paste-wax category and well below the heavy-naphtha carnauba waxes. H402 (Aquatic Acute Cat 3) is confirmed in §2; aquatic exposure from a leave-on surface coating is indirect, but the classification is noted.
Frequently asked questions
How long does Formula 1 Carnauba Paste Wax actually last?▾
The label claims 'Beads water up to 12 months,' but brand-site customer reviews consistently report 1–3 months on driven vehicles, with owners noting beading that lasts through rain and snow for about a month. Amazon evidence is too thin to draw conclusions there. The community durability window is the basis for the CCT durability score, not the label claim.
Does Formula 1 Carnauba Paste Wax contain real carnauba?▾
The label markets '#1-grade Brazilian carnauba,' but SDS §3 (2024-03-24) does not list carnauba wax (CAS 8015-86-9) as a disclosed ingredient. The active wax compound listed in §3 is paraffin wax at ≤2.5%. The carnauba content, if present, may fall below the SDS disclosure threshold or be withheld as a trade secret. SDS §2 also discloses that 18.9% of the mixture consists of components of unknown toxicity. CCT cannot confirm carnauba content from the available SDS data.
Is this safe to apply by hand?▾
The SDS carries a WARNING signal word — not DANGER. H315 (skin irritation) and H320 (mild eye irritation) are the relevant contact-hazard classifications. Nitrile gloves and safety glasses are reasonable handling for any paste wax involving hand contact. The H304 aspiration hazard that appears for the petroleum-distillate ingredient in SDS §3 is suppressed at the product (mixture) level per the paste-viscosity exemption — it is not a mixture-level classification.
How does it compare to Collinite 476S for durability?▾
Collinite 476S has community-confirmed durability of 7–10 months on a daily driver — substantially longer than the 1–3 months community evidence for Formula 1. For a buyer whose priority is maximum durability per application, Collinite 476S is the better choice. Formula 1 is lower-cost and widely available, but the durability gap is real.
Why is the Amazon listing currently unavailable?▾
