TL;DR High-gloss formula with real slickness and lasting hydrophobics, streak-free with correct technique (spray on the towel, not the paint), but skip it if the car is anything worse than lightly dusty.
EliXir is CarPro's mainline quick detailer, built around a silicone polymer base that delivers a noticeably deep, wet-look finish that owners consistently describe as standing out from typical QD results. The hydrophobic character is genuine: community reviewers report paint stays cleaner longer between sessions, water sheets aggressively, and glass sheds rain at highway speed with almost no wiper input. The one friction point: it is heavier than most QDs and needs to be sprayed onto a folded microfiber first, then worked one panel at a time. Spray it directly on the paint and it streaks. Use the right technique and the finish buffs clean and glossy on lightly dusty paint. Multiple ceramic coating owners, including those on Gyeon Mohs and CQUARTZ, report no hydrophobic loss after regular use.
Built for owners who keep a clean car and want the QD that does the most for gloss and surface bonding between washes. Particularly well-suited for ceramic-coated vehicles. Skip it if the surface has visible road film or a week of pollen; that requires a waterless wash, not a quick detailer.
The SDS classifies EliXir as an eye irritant (H319, Cat 2A) with a WARNING signal word; safety glasses are the sensible precaution when spraying. SDS §8 states breathing protection is not required under normal conditions. No Prop 65, no PFAS, no aquatic toxicity codes. Environment sits at the 7.0 baseline: biodegradability untested, no CARB or EPA Safer Choice certification found.
Community evidence from ceramic coating owners is consistently positive. Multiple reviewers using Gyeon Mohs, CQUARTZ, and other ceramic coatings report that EliXir does not degrade hydrophobic performance. CarPro itself makes the CQUARTZ coating line and positions EliXir as a maintenance spray for coated vehicles, though a formal published compatibility document has not been independently confirmed.
EliXir is heavier than most quick detailers and requires spraying onto the applicator microfiber first, not directly onto the paint. Spraying 1-2 pumps on a folded microfiber and working one panel at a time prevents the streaking and swirling that comes from applying too much product at once. Multiple community members have noted this distinction.
The manufacturer states the formula is safe on PPF and vinyl. Community reviews from PPF owners are positive. No reports of PPF edge lifting or adhesive issues appear in the available owner data.
It is the production date, not an expiration date. CarPro stamps bottles in Day/Month/Year format (e.g., 01/10/2024 means October 1, 2024). The product is labeled Pr (production) and Ex (expiry). Most detailing products have a shelf life of 2-3 years from production when stored properly.
No. EliXir is designed for lightly dusty paint between washes, not for removing moderate contamination, road film, or dried pollen. Applying it on visibly dirty surfaces risks marring paint because QDs are not formulated to encapsulate and suspend the heavier particulate load that a waterless wash handles.
