Long-life polymer and ceramic coatings that lock black trim back to black for a year or more.
Trim coatings are the durable answer to faded plastic — instead of dressing the surface once a month, a coating bonds chemically and holds the dark, satin look for six months to two years depending on the product and the weather. Use one on the textured plastic around fender flares, side mirrors, cowls, and bumper inserts that have already been cleaned back to bare plastic. Prep matters more than the coating itself: any old silicone dressing left on the trim and the coating won't bond, so degrease thoroughly with an APC or dedicated trim prep first. Don't expect a coating to fix heavily oxidized, chalky trim on its own — restore it with a trim restorer or heat-gun pass first, then coat to keep it that way.
