CarCareTruth ratings translate the manufacturer's safety sheet. They do not replace the SDS or substitute for a hazard assessment specific to your task.
Health score is for adult use as intended, per the manufacturer's SDS. It does not model child ingestion, accidental spill cleanup, or off-label use. See the safety panel below for full hazard classification, and /disclaimer for the full editorial scope.
GHS hazard codes are quoted from the manufacturer’s Safety Data Sheet. PPE tiers below translate those codes and the listed ingredient chemistry; they are not CarCareTruth recommendations.

From the manufacturer’s Safety Data Sheet, Section 8
“No H318 or H319 in SDS §2. Liquid solvent format creates splash risk during application; SDS §8 recommends safety glasses. Heptane carrier (SDS §3) can cause irritation on direct contact.”

From the manufacturer’s Safety Data Sheet, Section 8
“SDS §8 specifies 'protective clothing' and 'chemical-resistant gloves.' Heptane (1·10%, CAS 142-82-5, SDS §3) is a petroleum-derived solvent with skin-defatting properties. No H315 or H317 in SDS §2 at mixture level, but SDS §8 skin protection specification and DANGER signal word support the required tier.”

From the manufacturer’s Safety Data Sheet, Section 8
“No H335, H330, or H331 in SDS §2. Heptane carrier (1·10%, SDS §3) is a volatile organic solvent. SDS §8 specifies adequate ventilation. The SDS specifies use outdoors or in a well-ventilated area and elimination of ignition sources.”

This product ranks #1 of 6 in Trim Coating.

TL;DR Holds trim dark and water-beading for 6·12 months on community-tested daily drivers · well ahead of most competing coatings, though the brand's "permanent" claim goes further than community data supports. Finish looks natural, not dressed. DANGER signal word is from the hydrocarbon carrier (flammability, not a health hazard); SDS §8 specifies gloves.
C4 bonds a concentrated coating agent to faded exterior plastic and rubber trim · the carrier evaporates after application, leaving a layer that restores trim to deep, natural black. Apply a few drops by foam applicator; the 15 ml bottle covers a full trim set multiple times. Community long-term reports on Detailing World and r/AutoDetailing confirm 6·12 months on daily-driven vehicles washed regularly. Excess product on adjacent painted panels must be wiped away while still wet.
The right call for an owner who wants faded trim to stay dark through a full year of regular driving without monthly retreatment. Skip it if the trim is actively chalking, pitting, or was treated with an oil-based dressing · the coating bonds to a solid, clean surface; restoration comes first. Also skip it if working in an enclosed space; the carrier solvent requires ventilation per SDS §7.
The DANGER signal word is H225 (highly flammable liquid, flash point −3 °C) · a fire hazard from the carrier solvent, not a biological health classification. No health-tier GHS codes are present in this SDS. SDS §8 specifies chemical-resistant gloves; SDS §7 specifies use outdoors or in a well-ventilated area with ignition sources eliminated. H412 (harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects) per SDS §2 · dispose away from drains. Formula biodegradability is unconfirmed.
Community long-term reviews on Detailing World and r/AutoDetailing consistently report 6·12 months on daily-driven vehicles when applied to clean, dry trim. The brand describes C4 as 'permanent,' which is accurate only for well-maintained trim · UV exposure, carwash detergent, and oil contamination degrade the bond over time. Trim that has been pre-treated with oil-based dressings may require removal of the old dressing before C4 bonds properly.
C4 does not transfer onto adjacent paint or glass once fully cured. The concern is excess product applied during installation: if any product contacts painted surfaces, it must be wiped away while wet. Dried C4 on paint requires IPA or a solvent-based cleaner to remove. Work in small sections and wipe excess immediately · the 15 ml bottle goes a long way, so overapplication is easy to avoid.
The DANGER signal word comes from H225 (highly flammable liquid and vapour) · a fire and explosion hazard driven by the hydrocarbon carrier solvent (flash point approximately −3 °C). This is a physical hazard, not a health classification. There are no health-tier hazard codes (skin sensitizer, respiratory irritant, etc.) in the SDS. The product is safe to handle with gloves and normal precautions; the critical rule per SDS §7 is to eliminate ignition sources and apply outdoors.
C4 is a surface-coating restorer · the active coating agent is dissolved in a volatile hydrocarbon carrier. It does not chemically bond into the plastic substrate the way acrylic or polyurethane penetrating polymers do. The carrier evaporates rapidly after application, leaving a bonded coating layer on the surface. This delivers excellent color depth and long durability but means the trim surface must be clean and dry for the coating to adhere properly.
The 15 ml bottle is highly concentrated · a few drops applied by foam applicator cover a large trim panel. Most users report the 15 ml size covering a full set of exterior trim pieces (bumpers, side cladding, door handles) multiple times over. The 30 ml size is worth considering for larger vehicles or regular reapplication use.
