CarCareTruth's Analysis
Last reviewed May 26, 2026
TL;DR Caustic alkaline tire and wheel cleaner (pH 13.5, DANGER signal word, H314 skin corrosion) that strips heavy brake dust and brown bloom in one application — effective on severely neglected tires, but wear chemical-resistant gloves and safety goggles, and limit use to monthly or less to avoid drying and cracking sidewalls.
What it is and how it performs
Strongly alkaline caustic formula designed to dissolve brake dust, oxidation, and old dressing buildup. Spray onto pre-rinsed tires and wheels, dwell 30–60 seconds while the formula browns as it lifts contamination, agitate with a stiff brush, and rinse. Verified reviews confirm single-application removal of heavy brake-dust buildup including on tires neglected for years; old dressing residue may need a second pass. Economy is modest at 4–5 full-vehicle sessions per 23 oz bottle. The SDS notes aluminum incompatibility — avoid dwell on polished or uncoated alloy wheels.
Who should buy this — and who should skip it
Right fit for owners with severely neglected tires or heavy brake-dust accumulation who will use this monthly or less. Skip it for weekly maintenance — repeated caustic application accelerates sidewall drying and cracking. For routine washes, a mild alkaline cleaner like 303 Tire and Rubber Cleaner handles bloom removal without the chemistry burden.
Safety and environmental impact
The DANGER signal word reflects H314 skin corrosion Cat 1B at pH 13.5 — contact causes chemical burns; wear chemical-resistant gloves and safety goggles. A skin sensitizer code (H317) is also present. The product carries a Prop 65 warning; the trigger substance is not named on the label or in the available SDS. The formula is water-based but carries an aquatic toxicity code (H412), and the biodegradability claim on the label is not supported by any cited standard in the SDS.

OMG, this stuff is Fantastic
I applied this to my 12 year old aluminum rims, which have never been scrubbed and were brownish-black with baked in brake dust. I applied this to one rim while dry and used a rounded nylon brush attachment in a battery drill to scrub and get it into the creases in the wheel openings, and let it sit and dry for a week before I was able to wash my vehicle. When washing the vehicle a week later I applied the product to pre-rinsed wheels and used the same brush and battery drill to scrub them, and re-applied the product to the first wheel after wetting it. The results were amazing! The first wheel is almost brand new, with just a few spots of brake dust remaining. The other three are 75% clean, but all are mostly shiny.I think that had I used this product every six months when washing my vehicle, my wheels would still look brand new, and I will be doing this with my next vehicle.I'm confident that with a few more applications during washes the wheels on this vehicle that the remaining brake dust will continue to be removed to restore the wheels to an almost new condition.I paid full price for this product, and will be purchasing again.
