The manufacturer's Safety Data Sheet classifies this product with one or more GHS Category 1 health hazards — the most severe tier. The hazard statements in quotes below are the verbatim GHS language from the SDS, as required by OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard. The line under each statement translates the GHS classification into plain language.
- H304 “May be fatal if swallowed and enters airways.”
GHS Category 1 aspiration toxicity — thin, oily liquids can slip into the lungs if swallowed, causing chemical pneumonia.
If swallowed, inhaled, or splashed in eyes:
Call Poison Control immediately at 1-800-222-1222 (US, 24/7, free) and have the product container with you. Poison Control's standing guidance is to not induce vomiting after chemical exposure; they will direct first-aid steps based on the specific product.

CarCareTruth's Analysis
Last reviewed May 30, 2026
TL;DR DANGER-rated aerosol — wear nitrile gloves and use outdoors or with open-garage ventilation. Where you can ventilate, it's a strong lubricant: community-confirmed quiet hinges and slides for months, with a PTFE additive that leaves a drier, less grit-attracting film than standard petroleum sprays.
What it is and how it performs
CRC Power Lube silences squeaky hinges, frees sticky slides, and protects metal mechanisms from moisture. At 4.7 stars across 2,679 reviews (Amazon's Choice), community evidence confirms months-long quiet operation on door hinges, RV slides, and motorhome hardware — including documented manufacturer-authorized use on camper slides. The PTFE additive leaves a drier, less tacky residue than plain petroleum sprays, reducing grit pickup between applications. Extension straw included for tight pivot joints.
Who should buy this — and who should skip it
The go-to for a homeowner with squeaky hinges, stiff cable sheaths, or garage-door hardware that needs a durable dressing. Also practical for RV and marine applications where moisture protection matters. Regular users in enclosed garages or shops should prefer a pump-spray or drip lubricant — the aerosol format builds inhalation exposure quickly in confined spaces.
Safety and environmental impact
DANGER signal word is driven by H304 (Aspiration Hazard Cat 1) at SDS §2 mixture level — fine mist from aerosol application is the primary inhalation route; do not induce vomiting if ingested, seek medical attention. No Prop 65 substances; no aquatic hazard classification per SDS §12. Keep away from heat and open flame.
Frequently asked questions
How long does CRC Power Lube actually last on hinges and slides?▾
Community follow-up at 4.7 stars across 2,679 Amazon ratings consistently mentions months of quiet operation on door hinges, RV slides, and garage-door hardware after a single application. One frequently cited review notes use on motorhome slides and retractable steps with results described as 'clean and long lasting.' The PTFE additive package leaves a drier, less tacky residue than plain petroleum sprays, which reduces grit pickup and extends the effective interval. Exact duration varies by mechanism duty cycle and environment — outdoor hinges in humid climates may need reapplication sooner than indoor drawer slides.
Is CRC Power Lube safe on rubber seals and plastic parts?▾
Community reviews document use on nylon-on-metal assemblies (e.g., slides, drawer guides) without reported damage. The hydrotreated petroleum-distillate carrier has had its aromatic fraction removed, which reduces — but does not eliminate — rubber swelling risk versus aromatic-solvent products. The SDS does not publish a formal compatibility table for rubber types. Check the manufacturer's guidance or test on a small area before applying to rubber o-rings, weatherstripping, or polycarbonate/acrylic surfaces.
What does the DANGER label mean on a lubricant spray?▾
The DANGER signal word on CRC Power Lube is driven by H304 (Aspiration Hazard Cat 1) in the SDS §2 mixture classification. H304 means that if the product is swallowed and enters the airways, it can cause serious lung damage — do not induce vomiting if ingested, seek medical attention immediately. The DANGER rating here is an ingestion/aspiration hazard, not a skin-burn hazard. The aerosol propellant also contributes GHS02 (flammable aerosol) and GHS04 (pressurized gas) — keep away from heat and open flame.
Does CRC Power Lube contain PFAS or Prop 65 chemicals?▾
No on both counts, and this is worth noting because it is unusual for a petroleum-distillate aerosol. The carrier uses hydrotreated and catalytic dewaxed paraffinic oils — a refining process that removes the aromatic fraction (naphthalene, toluene, benzene) that typically triggers Prop 65 classification. The SDS §15 explicitly states the product is not known to contain Prop 65 carcinogens or reproductive toxins. On PFAS: PTFE is listed in the product name as an extreme-pressure additive, but no PFAS precursors appear in SDS §3, and the manufacturer's PTFE use is consistent with inert particle suspension rather than reactive fluoropolymer chemistry.

Great General Purpose Lube
I use this stuff for everything from hinges to prop cylinders to alternator bearings to bushings. It lasts much longer than WD-*0 and the teflon makes it slicker. CRC makes reliable specific use products for lubing and cleaning auto parts.
