  • Chelators
  • CAS 51981-21-6
  • IUPAC: Tetrasodium 2-(1,2-dicarboxylatoethylamino)pentanedioate

No GHS health hazard classifications. Non-irritating at use concentrations. EPA Safer Choice approved. Derived from a naturally-occurring amino acid.

Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate (trade name Dissolvine GL) is a chelating agent derived from glutamic acid, a naturally occurring amino acid. It improves cleaning performance by sequestering calcium and magnesium ions that would otherwise reduce surfactant efficiency in hard water. Unlike older chelating agents such as EDTA and NTA, tetrasodium glutamate diacetate is readily biodegradable and carries EPA Safer Choice approval. It carries no GHS health hazard classifications and poses minimal environmental risk due to its rapid biodegradation.
