What it is and how it performs
WEN 73011T: fixed-height seat on a powder-coat black tubular steel C-frame with 4 ball-bearing PU casters. No backrest — the Amazon "Padded Back" attribute is a database error. Stamped steel tray (~150 sq in) useful for bolts and small parts. Casters smooth-rolling across 605 reviews / 4.6★; 206 lb reviewer confirms no flex; no structural failures in sample. Seat size is the sole consistent complaint — "sitting on a postage stamp," sessions under 1 hour recommended. Assembly note: install rear casters before assembling side frames — Allen wrench cannot reach bolt heads afterward.
Who should buy this — and who should skip it
Right pick for wheel work, tire rotation, and short detailing sessions. Skip if above 230 lb, sessions run over an hour, or for under-vehicle work — use a creeper.
Safety and environmental impact
Steel base, PU foam, polyurethane casters — no chemical exposure pathway. Steel C-frame is recyclable at scrap metal; foam, vinyl, and PU casters have limited recycling infrastructure.

Feels very sturdy and rolls around well
Every year in the Spring I polish the aluminum wheels on my car and sit on a foot stool I made in high school to do it (I'm now 78). This year I will use a DA polisher to detail the car as well, which means getting down low to do the side panels. That foot stool doesn't roll around well so I went looking for a rolling mechanic's seat and found this WEN 73011T 250 lb. Capacity Rolling Mechanic Seat. There are several similar models on Amazon around the same price point, but this one had two additional features that I liked. One being the vertical supports on the side frames, and the other being the support straps under the seat. I thought these features would make the unit sturdier, and I was right. Once assembled, this thing feels rock solid. Assembly was easy but would have been easier if the instructions had been correct. The instructions say to assemble the two side frames to the lower frame and plastic pan, then add the seat straps and seat to the side frames. Lastly it says to install the caster wheels. Simple. Except that the two back casters cannot be installed if the rest of the unit is assembled. The Allen wrench needed to tighten the casters won't fit. The side frames must now be removed in order to tighten the casters to the lower frame. Tip: Install the casters to the lower frame and pan first, then assemble the side frames and seat. (I had forgotten another reviewer had mentioned that.) Aside from that, everything fits as it should. It's comfortable to sit on and rolls around nicely. Obviously, its meant for smooth floors and it will soon get plenty of use.
