TL;DR Universal trim-to-fit TPE cargo mat that buyer cuts to size using household scissors and pre-scored lines — community-confirmed fitment across XC60, Highlander, Sienna, Subaru Impreza, and others, though it leaves no wheel-well cutouts and a 2007 Highlander owner notes the mat covered about 95% of the floor. The 0.25-inch inner lip pools minor spills but is shallow for heavy liquid loads. TPE construction is cold-climate stable with no cracking reports and confirmed virtually odorless.
What it is and how it performs
Proprietary Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) universal trim-to-fit cargo mat — 53" × 36" before trimming, with pre-scored lines and a textured raised nib (MatGrip) backing. Fitment is buyer-trimmed to flat floor dimensions; the mat provides no wheel-well cutouts, no side-wall coverage, and no tail gate sill section. Community-confirmed fits across a 2014 Volvo XC60, 2007 Toyota Highlander (~95% floor coverage, reviewer wished it were slightly larger), 2017 Toyota Sienna Limited with power-folding third row, and a 2004 Subaru Impreza with a non-symmetric trunk — 1,316 reviews at 4.7 stars. The raised outer ridge contains minor spills per product imagery; the inner lip is manufacturer-confirmed at 0.25 inches. TPE is cold-climate stable per manufacturer claim ("will not curl, crack or harden even in sub-zero temperatures"), corroborated by multiple community reviewers in cold climates, with one 2012 long-term reviewer predicting the mat will outlive the vehicle. Surface is confirmed virtually odorless by multiple international reviewers.
Who should buy this — and who should skip it
Right pick for owners whose vehicle lacks a WeatherTech vehicle-specific liner — particularly older or less-common models where no precision-molded option is available — and who need basic flat-floor protection against dirt, pet hair, and minor spills. The TPE material and WeatherTech construction quality outperform thin commodity universal mats. Skip this if your cargo area has pronounced wheel-well bumps or if you need full side-wall coverage — this flat mat leaves those areas exposed regardless of trimming. Also skip if you regularly haul large volumes of liquid cargo or wet pets: the 0.25" inner lip provides only shallow containment, and trimmed mat edges are not sealed. For that use case, a deep-wall vehicle-specific liner is the better choice.
Safety and environmental impact
No chemical exposure pathway — molded TPE passive accessory with no SDS. TPE construction is confirmed latex-free, PVC-free, cadmium-free, and lead-free per manufacturer spec; the Prop 65 warning on this listing is a standard materials declaration, not a product-specific hazard. Manufacturer states the mat is 100% recyclable, though TPE is not accepted in municipal recycling programs and no take-back program is confirmed — specialty plastics recyclers may accept it at end of life. The 3-year manufacturer warranty and no documented early failure pattern support a reasonable service life, though no community-confirmed multi-year lifespan data has accumulated for this universal-fit product.
Frequently asked questions
Will this fit my specific vehicle?▾
This is a universal trim-to-fit mat — the buyer trims it using the pre-scored lines and household scissors. Community reviews confirm fitment for a 2014 Volvo XC60, 2007 Toyota Highlander (covering ~95% of the cargo floor), 2017 Toyota Sienna Limited with power-folding third row, 2004 Subaru Impreza, and a 2002 Chrysler Concorde. The mat does not include wheel-well cutouts or side-wall coverage — it is a flat mat trimmed to the floor dimensions only. At least one reviewer found the mat slightly small for an unusually large trunk. Measure your cargo floor before purchasing: the mat starts at 53" wide × 36" long and can be trimmed down to 41" × 27.5".
The Amazon listing shows product dimensions of 35" × 5.9" — is that the mat size?▾
No. The 35.43" L × 5.91" W × 5.91" Th listed in the Amazon spec table are the shipping box dimensions, not the mat dimensions. The actual mat is 53" wide × 36" long before trimming and can be cut down to a minimum of 41" wide × 27.5" long. Use the mat dimensions when measuring for fitment, not the spec table.
How high is the raised lip — will it contain a spilled drink?▾
The manufacturer confirms an inner lip height of 0.25 inches. Product images show water pooling in the corner under the raised outer ridge. The raised outer reservoir is designed to keep fluid away from the vehicle interior, and the design contains minor spills adequately. A 0.25" inner lip is on the shallow side for large-volume liquid containment — buyers hauling pets or wet cargo should note this and may want a high-wall liner for heavy liquid exposure.
Is the mat safe? There's a Prop 65 warning on the listing.▾
The Prop 65 warning is standard for products in this materials category and is not specific to WeatherTech's formulation. The mat is confirmed TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomer) — latex-free per manufacturer spec, no PVCs, no cadmium, no lead per listing bullets, and no PFAS or fluoropolymer treatment. It is a passive installed accessory with no chemical exposure pathway in normal use.

Better than expected
The quality of this is quite surprising. Unfortunately Honda's cargo mats have declined, since I purchased my last one, and didn't look like they were anywhere near the value or quality I wanted for the price. This left me searching for the proper product. After looking at other companies, I saw a link here on Amazon. After buying this - I'm not at all disappointed. I looked at several and they seemed lacking. Too stiff, too expensive and definitely not easily trimmed. This one is very affordable for the quality. I tried trimming a piece, and it cut easily with my heavy duty scissors. Often when a package weight is given, I find that the number a manufacturer uses is much higher than the weight of the product received. Not the case with this one, it has a good heft to it and is thicker than I expected - though has a bit of give when stepped on. It has also remained soft and pliable in the cold temperatures in my area. It has remained pliable enough that the mat molded into position in my vehicle when I quickly set it into place after unwrapping. I went to grab my scissors - but by the time I returned it was lying flat and had shaped to the area. I may trim it to fit eventually, but the way it lies, there is no way my my muddy or wet dog will soak the inside of the car, water simply pools up inside the cupped sides of the mat. Even when the rear seats are laid flat, the slight rise keeps dirt and water in, but the mat quickly settles into place along the back of the seats. Until it stiffens up I'll keep it as is.One nice side effect is that my dog used to whine riding in the back, and wouldn't lie down. Since this was put in place, with no other changes, he now relaxes on his rides and lays down - even falling asleep a time or two. That hasn't happened in the car at all since he was a few months old.Frankly, I couldn't be happier with the product, the value it offers compared to other products and the quality of the material was worth every penny and I expect it will outlive the car.
