Health score is for adult use as intended, per the manufacturer's SDS. It does not model child ingestion, accidental spill cleanup, or off-label use. See the safety panel below for full hazard classification, and /disclaimer for the full editorial scope.
GHS hazard codes are quoted from the manufacturer’s Safety Data Sheet. PPE tiers below translate those codes and the listed ingredient chemistry; they are not CarCareTruth recommendations.

From the manufacturer’s Safety Data Sheet, Section 8

TL;DR Dilutes 1:10 for general cleaning and 1:3 for engine bays and wheel wells · confirmed safe on paint, rubber, plastic trim, carpet, and upholstery at proper dilution (manufacturer excludes clear plastics and leather). The SDS signal word is WARNING from an eye irritation classification at concentrate strength; no Prop 65 warning. Biodegradable surfactant base confirmed by SDS environmental data. Currently out of stock on Amazon.
SONAX MultiStar is an anionic surfactant concentrate with four manufacturer-stated dilution ratios: 1:3 for engine bays and wheel wells, 1:5 for exterior, 1:10 for general cleaning, and 1:20 for delicate interior surfaces. At 1:10 the working solution removes road film, brake dust, and greasy floor mats effectively · community owners confirm strong results on rubber mats and wheel wells. The owner review base is modest but well-rated; some EU-background buyers found the US 750ml bottle weaker than the European 5-liter concentrate, likely reflecting dilution-state confusion rather than a formula difference. Scored at 1:10 working solution per the concentrate protocol for this category.
Best for owners who want one concentrate to cover interior and exterior surfaces without buying separate products. Skip it for leather and clear plastic trim · both are explicitly excluded by the manufacturer. Those needing a US HazCom SDS for professional or commercial documentation should note the only SDS on file is UK REACH.
The SDS (Z62700369, rev. 08.11.2024) classifies this product at Eye Irritation Cat 2A (H319) · signal word WARNING. That eye-irritation classification, combined with a moderately alkaline working solution (estimated pH 9.5·10.0 at 1:10), is what moves the health score into the mid-range rather than near the top: this is an alkaline surfactant concentrate, not an inert water-based spray, and a splash in the eye is a real irritation risk. Eye protection is applicable during concentrate handling and spray application. No skin or respiratory H-codes appear at mixture level, so gloves are a prolonged-contact precaution rather than a requirement. Methylisothiazolinone (MIT) is present as a preservative; those with known MIT sensitivity should note its presence. SDS §12 confirms biodegradability under EU Detergent Regulation OECD 301B testing. No Prop 65 substances listed in SDS §15.
The Safety Data Sheet for SONAX MultiStar Universal Cleaner carries a WARNING signal word, with classified hazards including H319 (causes serious eye irritation). See the PPE breakdown above for use-case-specific guidance translated from the SDS hazard codes.
CarCareTruth scores SONAX MultiStar Universal Cleaner at 7.1 out of 10 on the composite CCT score, with a health sub-score of 6.2/10. The CCT score blends real-world effectiveness, ingredient health impact pulled from the manufacturer's safety sheet, and environmental footprint against a published category rubric. See the methodology link on this page for the full scoring breakdown.
