TL;DR API DEF Certified: the API certification seal is confirmed on the front label, meeting Ford OEM spec WSS-M97B51-A1 and ISO 22241. The precision-fit nozzle is engineered specifically for 2011+ Ford diesel DEF fill ports and prevents overfilling; this is the purpose-built fit Ford Power Stroke diesel owners get that generic commodity DEF jugs don't offer.
Motorcraft PM-27-JUG is a 32.5% urea-in-deionized-water solution produced to ISO 22241 spec, Ford's WSS-M97B51-A1 OEM specification, and DIN V 70070. It carries the API Certified Diesel Exhaust Fluid seal, confirmed visible on the front label; compliance is certified, not just self-declared. Concentration accuracy falls under API spot-testing protocol; no published third-party SGS or Intertek test results are available to independently confirm to that standard, but no SCR fault codes or concentration failures have been documented in the community. The container ships in 1-gallon and 2.5-gallon sizes. The standout packaging feature is the precision-pour nozzle engineered to fit the DEF fill port on 2011-and-newer Ford diesel vehicles, and most other SCR-equipped vehicles, with an anti-overfill design that reduces spill risk on paint and trim, a real improvement over standard commodity pour spouts.
Ford Power Stroke diesel owners who want OEM-specified fluid are the primary fit; the precision nozzle is designed around Ford's fill port geometry and the Ford spec is explicitly met. Owners of other diesel brands with SCR systems can use this without concern since ISO 22241 is brand-agnostic, but they won't get the nozzle-fit advantage Ford owners do. Light-use passenger diesel owners should consider the 1-gallon size to avoid shelf-life waste; the 2.5-gallon jug offers better value for trucks consuming DEF every 3,000-4,000 miles. Skip if your vehicle is gasoline or hybrid-electric; DEF is only used in diesel SCR emissions systems.
The SDS carries no GHS health hazard classifications; signal word is absent, and no health H-codes appear in §2. Eye splash during fill is possible with any jug; standard pour precautions apply. The SDS does list aquatic hazard classifications (H401 acute Cat 2, H411 chronic Cat 2) for the urea concentrate, standard SDS designations for aqueous urea at volume. In normal use, DEF is consumed entirely in the SCR catalyst converting diesel NOx to nitrogen and water and does not enter waterways during vehicle operation. No Prop 65 listing; no PFAS; effectively zero VOC. Biodegradability data was not confirmed in the SDS reviewed.
