Prices may varyThe manufacturer's Safety Data Sheet classifies this product with one or more GHS Category 1 health hazards — the most severe tier. The hazard statements in quotes below are the verbatim GHS language from the SDS, as required by OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard. The line under each statement translates the GHS classification into plain language.
GHS Category 1 aspiration toxicity — thin, oily liquids can slip into the lungs if swallowed, causing chemical pneumonia.
If swallowed, inhaled, or splashed in eyes:
Call Poison Control immediately at 1-800-222-1222 (US, 24/7, free) and have the product container with you. Poison Control's standing guidance is to not induce vomiting after chemical exposure; they will direct first-aid steps based on the specific product.

TL;DR PEA-class detergent confirmed from the SDS, targeting injectors, intake valves, and combustion chambers. Well-reviewed by owners, but no independent SAE paper or dyno test exists for this formula. Strong value per treatment. Carries a Prop 65 warning; DANGER signal word is from the aspiration hazard.
Lucas Deep Clean uses a PEA-class detergent (monoalkylaryl alkoxylate aminated, 10-30% per SDS) targeting injector fouling, intake valve carbon, and combustion chamber deposits. PEA chemistry is well-studied for injectors and intake valves; combustion chamber coverage is the brand's claim, plausible at concentrate strength but without a product-specific independent test. Protocol is periodic: one 5.25 oz bottle per tank (up to 15 gallons) every 3,000 to 4,000 miles.
A good fit for gasoline-engine owners on a regular maintenance schedule who want a value-priced PEA-class treatment; most useful for those running non-Top Tier gasoline. Skip it if you always run Top Tier certified fuel -- that built-in detergent package already prevents deposit buildup. Skip it for engines with misfires or suspected injector failure -- those call for professional ultrasonic cleaning, not a pour-in additive. Diesel owners should look elsewhere; this is gasoline-only.
SDS §2 (DANGER): H304 may be fatal if swallowed and enters airways -- do not induce vomiting if ingested, seek medical attention. H315 and H319 indicate skin and eye irritation from concentrate contact. No respiratory H-code at mixture level; brief outdoor pours carry low inhalation risk, enclosed-space pours warrant ventilation. The product combusts in the engine; exhaust byproducts are the environmental endpoint.
Lucas recommends using it at least every 3,000 to 4,000 miles. The 5.25 oz bottle treats up to 15 gallons of gasoline; add the full bottle to your tank before filling up so it mixes thoroughly with the fuel.
No. The label specifically states the formula contains no diesel fuel or kerosene and is designed for gasoline engines only. For diesel fuel system cleaning, Lucas makes a separate diesel-specific product.
The label states it is safe for any gasoline engine, and no documented compatibility failures with catalytic converters or oxygen sensors appear in the large community review base. The formula is gasoline-compatible with ethanol blends per the label direction to use with any grade of gasoline or ethanol.
The DANGER signal word on Lucas Deep Clean comes from the aspiration hazard classification (H304). This means swallowing the concentrate and having it enter the airways can be fatal; do not induce vomiting if ingested -- call a poison center or physician immediately. It does not indicate a strong inhalation hazard during normal use.
