TL;DR The genuine OEM Dexron-VI fluid from GM's own parts brand. Dexron-VI License #J-60301 confirmed on the bottle — not a bottle claim, the actual licensed product. Covers most GM automatics 2006 and newer, replaces Dexron-III. Community forum evidence supports shudder resolution in 6L80 and 6L45 applications. The bottle carries a California Prop 65 cancer warning.
What it is and how it performs
ACDelco Dexron-VI (part #10-9030) is manufactured by Petro-Canada for GM/ACDelco and carries a genuine Dexron-VI license — the current GM ATF spec for 2006-and-newer vehicles with 6-speed and newer automatics. It is backward-compatible with Dexron-III and Dexron-II in most applications. The base stock is Group III hydrotreated petroleum, classified by GM as full synthetic. No independent VOA data exists for this specific SKU; the manufacturer service interval is consistent with community consensus of 30,000–50,000 miles for most use cases.
Who should buy this — and who should skip it
Best for owners of GM vehicles (Chevy, GMC, Buick, Cadillac) with 6-speed and newer automatics calling for Dexron-VI. Skip if your vehicle requires a ZF Lifeguard, Toyota WS, Honda DW-1, or any import-spec fluid — this holds GM approval only.
Safety and environmental impact
The SDS classifies this product as not hazardous at mixture level — no GHS signal word, no mixture-level H-codes. The bottle carries a California Prop 65 cancer warning (petroleum base stock). Spent ATF goes to a used-oil collection center, not down drains or on soil.
Frequently asked questions
Is ACDelco 10-9030 the genuine GM-licensed Dexron-VI fluid?▾
Yes. Dexron-VI License #J-60301 is printed on the bottle back label, and GM Material Spec GMN10060 is confirmed. ACDelco is GM's own OEM parts brand — this is the same fluid a GM dealership would use for a transmission service.
Can I use this in older vehicles that called for Dexron-III?▾
Yes. Dexron-VI is backward-compatible and replaces Dexron-III and Dexron-II(E) in most applications. The bottle label explicitly states this. Exceptions: power steering systems and manual transmissions; some specific GM models (Aveo, Epica, Equinox, Optra, Torrent, Vibe, Wave, Astra, S Series) — check your owner's manual.
What does the California Prop 65 warning on the bottle mean?▾
The bottle back label states this product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer. The likely basis is the petroleum base stock (CAS 72623-86-0). The 2015 SDS does not include a Prop 65 section — the bottle label is the authoritative disclosure. Routine pour-and-fill use with gloves and in a ventilated space is the practical mitigation.
How often should I change this fluid?▾
GM's recommendation varies by vehicle and use case. Community consensus on forums and BITOG is 30,000–50,000 miles for most applications — conservative for towing or stop-and-go use, reasonable for highway-dominant driving. No independent VOA data exists for this specific SKU.

Extreme price hike by Amazon for this product
I purchased a 1 gallon jug of this AC Delco Dexron VI in Feb. 2016 for just over $23. Amazon now charges over $46 for the same thing in May of 2016. Amazing price hike in just 3 months! I used this fluid (Dexron VI) in my 96 Corvette along with a new pan (w/drain plug) all new solenoids, new TCC lock-up switch & Trans-go shift kit. Major improvement with these items installed. Torque converter clutch no longer locks and unlocks incessantly between 50 and 55 miles an hour. I think the fresh transmission fluid was a big help. I wanted to drain and fill the transmission again, and came to Amazon to buy the fluid. When I saw the price hike, I purchased it at Walmart instead. The transmission seems to shift better (and no more problems w/the torque converter clutch) after the second drain and fill w/Dexron VI. I would buy Dexron VI again, but not at double the price Amazon wants to charge.
