CarCareTruth's Analysis
Last reviewed May 27, 2026
TL;DR ACDelco 41-962 is the GM OEM replacement for 2006-and-older GM 5.3L V8 applications, per Service Bulletin 13D-070. Double platinum on both center and ground electrodes; pre-gapped for most units. Inspect the gap before installation: one community reviewer reported a collapsed gap.
What it is and how it performs
Double platinum on both center and ground electrodes, copper core, alumina-ceramic insulator, nickel-coated shell. ACDelco is the GM OE supplier; 41-962 and GM part 19299585 are the same plug under dual numbering. ACDelco Service Bulletin 13D-070 (May 2013) confirmed this as the correct replacement for 2006-and-older GM 5.3L V8 applications, covering Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban, Sierra, and related platforms. Community confirms fitment accuracy across multiple vehicles; no heat-range complaints or construction failures in 1,033 reviews.
Who should buy this, and who should skip it
Right pick for 2006-and-older GM 5.3L V8 owners (Silverado, Suburban, Sierra, Impala, and related platforms) where the OEM spec is the 41-962. Skip if your engine is a 2007-or-newer application requiring the updated OEM plug; confirm with a dealer VIN lookup.
Safety and environmental impact
No chemical exposure pathway: passive ceramic-and-steel ignition part, no SDS. Double-platinum electrodes mean small PGM extraction per plug; the 80,000–100,000 mile service class offsets consumption vs. copper. Steel shell is recyclable; alumina-ceramic insulator goes to landfill. No manufacturer take-back program as of 2026.
Frequently asked questions
What vehicles does the ACDelco 41-962 fit?▾
The 41-962 (GM part number 19299585) is the OEM replacement for 2006-and-older GM 5.3L V8 applications, including Chevrolet Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Sierra, Yukon, and related Buick and Cadillac platforms. ACDelco Service Bulletin 13D-070 (May 2013) formally designated it as the correct plug for these applications. Always verify against your VIN at the dealer or the ACDelco fitment tool — 2007 and newer GM V8 applications may specify a different plug.
Is the ACDelco 41-962 iridium or platinum?▾
Double platinum. Platinum pads are on both the center electrode and the ground electrode. It is not iridium. The ACDelco iridium plug for similar GM V8 platforms is the 41-110. Service Bulletin 13D-070 reversed the earlier recommendation from 41-110 iridium to 41-962 double platinum for 2006-and-older applications — the two plugs are not interchangeable.
Should I re-gap the ACDelco 41-962 before installation?▾
Most units ship pre-gapped within tolerance for the application. One community reviewer reported a collapsed gap on one plug out of a set; gap inspection before installation is advisable. The standard GM 5.3L V8 gap range is approximately 0.040–0.060 inches; verify against your engine's service manual before installing.
What is the difference between the ACDelco 41-962 and 41-110?▾
The 41-962 is double platinum; the 41-110 is iridium. For 2006-and-older GM 5.3L V8 applications, ACDelco Service Bulletin 13D-070 (2013) designates the 41-962 as the correct plug. For 2007-and-newer applications or engines with variable valve timing, confirm with a dealer VIN lookup — the application boundary matters.

Much needed upgrade for early 2000's chevy/GM trucks that have a V8
If you have a early 2000's chevy truck with a V8 this is a perfect upgrade. I was running the platinum plugs before and they worked fine but these work even better and are suppose last double or even triple the service life.
