CarCareTruth's Analysis
Last reviewed May 27, 2026
TL;DR NGK is the OE supplier for Toyota; ILFR6T11 cross-references to Toyota 90919-01191, confirmed for the Tacoma 4.0L V6 (1GR-FE). Iridium fine-wire center electrode, platinum ground, manufacturer-rated 100,000 miles; no community removal photos at the full interval yet.
What it is and how it performs
Iridium fine-wire center electrode, platinum-tipped ground, heat range 6, 14mm thread, 26.5mm reach. NGK supplies this plug to the Toyota dealer channel as 90919-01191. Ships pre-gapped; community confirms correct fitment on Tacoma, 4Runner, and Tundra. Rated 100,000 miles, consistent with iridium metallurgy. Amazon's fitment table contains Subaru cross-reference errors; verify from the NGK guide for non-Toyota applications.
Who should buy this — and who should skip it
Right pick for the Toyota 4.0L V6 (Tacoma 2005–2015, 4Runner, Tundra, FJ Cruiser) at the 100,000-mile OE interval. Skip if the application requires 19mm reach (IFR5T11 range); reach mismatch causes engine damage. Confirm from the NGK guide for any non-Toyota engine.
Safety and environmental impact
No chemical exposure pathway: passive ignition-system part, no SDS. The 100,000-mile interval cuts per-vehicle-mile consumption to roughly one-third the copper-plug rate. Steel shell is recyclable; alumina-ceramic insulator goes to landfill. No take-back program as of 2026.
Frequently asked questions
What vehicles does the NGK ILFR6T11 fit?▾
The ILFR6T11 (NGK part 4904) is the OE-equivalent for Toyota applications using the 1GR-FE 4.0L V6 engine, including the 2005–2015 Toyota Tacoma 4.0L V6, Toyota 4Runner (2003–2009 and later), Toyota Tundra, and Toyota FJ Cruiser, as well as select Lexus V8 applications. It cross-references to Toyota OEM part 90919-01191 (confirmed in NGK specification data). Always verify against the NGK application guide for your specific year, make, model, and engine before purchasing — Amazon's fitment table has contained errors for non-Toyota applications.
Is the NGK ILFR6T11 pre-gapped?▾
Yes — the ILFR6T11 ships pre-gapped from NGK. Multiple verified-purchase reviews confirm the plugs can be installed without gap adjustment for Toyota 4.0L V6 applications. One reviewer reported a minor variance (~0.002") from spec; if precision is important, verify the gap with a feeler gauge before installation using a coin-style gauge carefully to avoid bending the fine iridium tip.
What is the difference between NGK ILFR6T11 and IFR5T11?▾
These are two different plugs. The ILFR6T11 (NGK part 4904) has a 26.5mm thread reach and NGK heat range 6, and is the OE-equivalent for Toyota 4.0L V6 (1GR-FE) engines. The IFR5T11 (NGK part 4996) has a 19mm thread reach and heat range 5, and is specified for smaller-displacement engines. Installing the wrong reach can cause engine damage — always confirm the correct part number from the NGK application guide.
How long do NGK ILFR6T11 spark plugs last?▾
NGK rates the ILFR6T11 for 100,000 miles. Multiple community reviewers reference the 100,000-mile rating when describing their purchase for Tacoma and 4Runner V6 applications. Community removal-photo evidence at the full rated interval has not been located in our research; the rating is consistent with the iridium fine-wire center electrode and platinum ground geometry.

Better torque at lower rpm
These plugs are great! They're pre-gapped... just screw them in and forget about them for 100,000 miles.Put these in my 2015 Tacoma 4.0L V6. Subtle but definite improvement from the stock plugs with 30K miles on them. I have the 6sp manual and its easier to start out in 2nd gear with no engine bucking/lugging and the acceleration from stop lights feels a little peppier. As a side note... I also put NGK Laser Iridium plugs in my 4cyl 1250 Bandit motorcycle with the same results. The bike is already a torque monster, but just putting in these plugs the bike can cruise 300-400 rpm lower before the hint of lugging shows up. Acceleration from stop is smoother and more powerfulYouTube has videos from Cycle Solutions where they dyno test Harleys comparing new factory plugs with new laser iridium plugs and hp and torque go up.How? Compressed air is actually and insulator. As the pressure in the combustion chamber increases, the electrical resistance between the spark plug gap increases. The spark will form and punch through that insulation faster from a fine-wire type spark plug - which is the laser iridium design (fine wire type also used on aviation plugs). The spark forms faster because of the fine-wire design and using iridium makes it last a long time. On a dyno chart, this results in your torque curve starting about 300-400 sooner and hanging on just a little bit longer at the high end. Depending on the tuning of your engine it may indicate a few more horsepower. But where you feel it is accelerating from stop where the engine can get into its torque curve sooner.
