1st Generation (RR4/RR5)
2010–2020 · RR4 · sedan
First-generation Ghost — Rolls-Royce's smaller, less ostentatious sedan beneath the Phantom. Based on the F01 BMW 7 Series architecture but heavily reworked. 6.6L N74 V12 twin-turbo (563 hp at launch, 593 hp in the Series II from 2014). Rear-wheel drive only on this generation; Black Badge added 2016. Extended Wheelbase (EWB) available.
Watch out: Air-suspension components and the active-roll system are shared with BMW 7 Series F01 — same failure modes (level sensors, compressor, struts) at similar mileage. N74 V12 valve-stem seal weeping and accessory drive items track with BMW V12 history. Cost of ownership is significant; bodywork after parking damage is six-figure-adjacent for the bespoke paint and trim.

2nd Generation
2020–2026 · sedan
Second-generation Ghost moved off the BMW 7 Series platform onto the bespoke Rolls-Royce 'Architecture of Luxury' all-aluminum spaceframe, shared with the Phantom VIII and Cullinan. 6.75L N74B68 V12 twin-turbo (563 hp). All-wheel drive and all-wheel steering both standard — neither was offered on the first-gen Ghost. Black Badge variant followed; EWB available. Series II revisions arrived for 2024.
Watch out: Newer architecture means fewer documented long-term failure patterns yet — emerging issues will surface over the next 5 years. Air-suspension shares philosophy (not parts) with the Cullinan and Phantom VIII. Anti-roll active stabilizers and 4-wheel steering add expensive sensors and actuators to the long-term service picture.
