TL;DR ETL/CETL certified (confirmed in official XPOWER data sheet) — a real differentiator. Community evidence is thin (4 verified-purchase reviews as of 2026-05-16) and split: one owner calls airflow "phenomenal," another compares it unfavorably to a shop vac on blower mode. Heat is manufacturer-claimed but not community-confirmed effective.
What it is and how it performs
A motor-unit + 16 ft self-expanding hose detailing blower on a 4-caster dock — motor stays on the floor, hose goes where you need air. Manufacturer CFM is disputed: 220 per data sheet, 150 per the Amazon listing infographic; no independent measurement exists. Two nozzles: flat (wide-area) and cone (concentrator). Cord is 10 ft. One reviewer calls it "surprisingly quiet"; another found it no stronger than a shop-vac on blower mode for panel clearance. Limited community data makes airflow performance hard to confirm for either crevice or full-panel use.
Who should buy this — and who should skip it
A home detailer who wants ETL-certified gear with a long free-moving hose and quiet operation, and who is willing to take a chance on a newer model with thin community data. Skip it if you need proven airflow figures for full-panel drying — the limited and mixed community evidence means you can't be sure of results on larger vehicles. More established alternatives with broader community validation exist in both the detailing-blower and car-air-dryer categories.
Safety and environmental impact
ETL and CETL certified (XPOWER official data sheet, A-12 column). No CPSC recall on file. Mains-powered corded (no lithium battery; no battery-disposal concern). At end of life, standard US e-waste drop-off applies. No chemical SDS — the dryer moves ambient air only.
Frequently asked questions
Is the XPOWER A-12 ETL certified?▾
Yes. The official XPOWER product data sheet (A-12-16_PDS_2023.pdf) lists ETL and CETL certification specifically for the A-12 model — the sibling A-16 column in the same table shows a dash, meaning the A-16 is not certified. Third-party retailer webstaurantstore.com independently states 'ETL Listed' for the A-12.
What is the actual CFM output of the A-12?▾
There is a manufacturer-source discrepancy: the official XPOWER data sheet rates the A-12 at 220 CFM, but the Amazon listing's own infographic image shows 150 CFM / 31,000 RPM. Neither figure has been independently measured by the community. The 150 CFM figure is used as the conservative scoring baseline since it appears directly on the product's Amazon listing page.
Does the A-12 heat the airstream effectively?▾
Uncertain. The A-12 includes two heat settings on a toggle switch, but one verified-purchase reviewer states it 'doesn't blow hot air' and that motor-generated warmth is not enough to make a meaningful drying difference. Heat effectiveness is manufacturer-claimed but not community-confirmed.
What nozzles are included with the A-12?▾
Two nozzles: a flat nozzle for wide-area panel work and a cone nozzle for crevice and targeted work. Confirmed by reviewer 4 ('one for large areas and one for smaller spaces and/or crevices') and the official XPOWER data sheet.

Takes too long to dry an entire car
To avoid water spots, it is essential that you dry the water off of your car as quickly as possible after washing, especially in the summer months. I was hoping this XPOEWER car dryer would be an effective way to quickly dry a car, but the bottom line is that it takes way too long.On the plus side, it is very well made and feels like it is quite robust. The hose expands as soon as you turn on the air flow and the caster wheels make it easy to move around your car. In general, it is easy and convenient to reach all areas of your car and it does a good job blowing water of tight spaces like body seams with high velocity airflow. Finally, it is surprisingly quiet in operation. On the down side, even with the "flat" nozzle, which is what is recommended in the instructions for drying car body panels, the air jet is just too small to effectively dry more than a 3 - 4 inch wide swath at a time. By the time you finish one panel, other panels are starting to air dry and leave spots. I have had much better results using a standard leaf blower to dry a car than I had using the XPOWER.Another disappointment is that the A-16 model does not include a heating element to heat the air. This might help overcome the limitation of the small coverage area and speed up the drying (interestingly enough, the lower priced A-12 model does include a heating element, although it has significantly lower air flow). The motor does heat the air some (you can feel the hose getting slightly warm), but not enough to make much of a difference in vehicle drying.I really wanted to like this car dryer, and I was hoping that it would be an improvement over using a leaf blower, but it in my experience, it is actually less effective. I give it 3 stars because it is well made, and I am sure that I will find other uses for it (like pet drying or blowing sawdust out of tight spaces in my workshop), but as a solution for car drying, I am afraid its a bust.
