TL;DR Cleans upholstery, dash, trim, and door panels in a single spray-and-wipe, drying to a non-greasy finish with odor elimination. No UV absorber appears in the safety documentation; this is a cleaner, not a protectant. The formula carries no GHS hazard classification, placing it among the lower-chemistry-risk options in the category.
SONAX XTREME INTERIOR CLEANER is a water-based surfactant formula that lifts dirt, oils, and odors from upholstery, vinyl, plastic trim, headliners, and rubber. Owners consistently describe it restoring pet-soiled interiors and heavily trafficked door panels to a streak-free finish. No UV protection chemistry appears in the safety data sheet; long-term UV protection should not be expected from this product alone.
Best for owners doing periodic hygiene cleaning of car interiors, removing grime and odors without leaving residue or a greasy sheen. Skip it if UV protection or anti-static performance is the goal; a dedicated interior protectant is more appropriate. For heavily stained fabric, the enzyme-based SONAX Upholstery and Alcantara Cleaner is a better fit.
The safety data sheet classifies this product as non-hazardous, with no signal word, no GHS hazard codes, and no PPE required for normal use. The water-based formula presents no inhalation risk in a car cabin. One environmental note: the preservative sodium pyrithione carries aquatic toxicity at the ingredient level, though the product carries no mixture-level aquatic hazard code; as a stay-on interior formula, it does not enter drains during normal use.
The SDS lists no H-codes for skin irritation or corrosion · the formula is an aqueous surfactant system classified as non-hazardous. The product description specifically mentions upholstered seats as a target surface. SONAX's separate Upholstery & Alcantara Cleaner (slug: sonax-upholstery-alcantara-cleaner) is formulated specifically for fabric and Alcantara if you need enzyme-powered fabric cleaning.
No silicone appears in the SDS Section 3 ingredient disclosure. The formula is described as 'wetting agent and fragrances in water' with amphoteric surfactants · no silicone D4, D5, or polydimethylsiloxane is listed. This makes it compatible with electronics and touchscreen surfaces where silicone residue can be problematic.
No. The product is positioned as a hygiene cleaner with odor neutralization · no UV absorber chemistry is disclosed in the SDS or on the label. If UV protection for interior plastics is the goal, a dedicated interior protectant with confirmed UV absorber chemistry is more appropriate.
The SDS carries no inhalation hazard codes (no H335, H336, or respiratory sensitizer classification). Section 8 specifically states 'Not required in normal cases' for respiratory protection. The water-based formula with no volatile alcohol co-solvent has no classified inhalation risk from normal spray-and-wipe use in a car cabin.
The 500 ml trigger-spray bottle is the standard US offering. SONAX's European range includes larger refill sizes, but availability on Amazon in the US is limited to the 500 ml format. Check the SONAX store on Amazon for current size options.
