TL;DR A 12-piece alloy steel T-handle wind-back kit covering push-in front pistons and screw-in rear pistons across domestic and Japanese vehicles, with 10 adapters and a blow-molded case. Community reviews confirm completed rear brake jobs on domestic Ford, GM, and Dodge calipers and common Japanese vehicles. Adapter pins require accurate piston-face alignment before wind-back proceeds — a learning curve some reviewers document. European dual-pin rear caliper coverage is marketed but not independently confirmed in the available review sample. Build material is alloy steel (not chrome-vanadium), consistent with a value-tier tool that handles the core use case without premium construction.
What it is and how it performs
The Neiko 20733A pairs a T-handle drive (with thrust bolt and reaction plate) against a 10-adapter set designed to compress push-in front pistons and rotate screw-in rear pistons simultaneously — the two movements required for rear integrated-parking-brake calipers. All components are CNC machined alloy steel with a sandblasted, rust-resistant finish per manufacturer spec — alloy steel, not chrome-vanadium. The kit addresses domestic (Ford, GM, Dodge) and common Japanese (Toyota, Honda) rear calipers based on the pattern of completed-brake-job reports in community reviews. Manufacturer compatibility claims extend to European vehicles, but dual-pin European caliper confirmation (BMW, Mercedes, Audi rear) is absent from the available independent review record. Adapter engagement requires the pin to seat squarely into the piston face slots; some reviewers document a trial-and-error phase before clean engagement — not a structural failure, but worth noting for first-time users. The blow-molded case keeps adapters organized between seasonal brake jobs.
Who should buy this — and who should skip it
Right pick for a home mechanic doing brake pad service on a domestic or Japanese vehicle fleet — Toyota, Honda, GM, and Ford rear calipers are the confirmed use case, and the kit delivers both push-in and screw-in wind-back capability in a single purchase. Skip this if your vehicle has European dual-pin rear calipers (BMW, Mercedes, Audi): the dual-pin adapter coverage marketed by Neiko is not independently confirmed in the current review sample, and a kit with documented European compatibility is the safer choice for those applications. Also skip for high-frequency professional use — the alloy steel construction suits home-mechanic frequency (once or twice per year), but CrV or drop-forged sets are the better choice for repeated heavy-vehicle piston loads.
Safety and environmental impact
Alloy steel and polymer construction — no chemical exposure pathway from the tool itself. The steel body and adapter set are accepted at scrap metal recycling at end of life; the blow-molded plastic case is not municipally recyclable. Brake service work generates dust from pad and rotor friction material — respiratory protection appropriate to the vehicle's brake pad type and era is relevant to the work environment, not to this tool.
Frequently asked questions
Does the Neiko 20733A work on rear calipers with integrated parking brakes?▾
The kit includes a wind-back mechanism for rear calipers with integrated parking brakes — the type that must rotate and compress simultaneously rather than simply push straight in. Community reviews confirm rear brake pad replacements completed on domestic vehicles (Ford, GM, Dodge) and common Japanese vehicles (Toyota, Honda). The adapter must engage the piston's pin slots; some reviewers report needing a few attempts to seat the adapter correctly before wind-back proceeds.
Does this kit cover European vehicles like BMW or Mercedes?▾
Neiko markets the kit as compatible with European vehicles and includes adapters intended for European rear calipers. Independent community confirmation of dual-pin European rear caliper compatibility (BMW, Mercedes, Audi) was not present in the review sample at time of this review. If your vehicle has European-style dual-pin rear pistons, verify compatibility via a current forum thread or the Neiko support page before purchase.
What material are the adapters made of?▾
Neiko specifies CNC machined alloy steel with a rust-resistant, sandblasted finish — not chrome-vanadium (CrV) steel. Some community reviewers describe the metal as feeling lower-density than premium tool-grade steel, though documented structural failures (stripped drive bolts, cracked adapter bodies) are not prominent in the available review record.
Does the kit come with a storage case?▾
Yes — a blow-molded plastic case with molded slots is included. The case keeps adapters organized between uses. Individual adapter labeling on the case insert was not confirmed from available product imagery.

Great tool every mech/tech needs
So far the tools have been working flawlesly. If you are struggling with a ball joint double check the size is correct and that you are hitting it properly, sounds dumb but if you dont hit it right you wont make progress and it will feel like these arent working.
