CarCareTruth's Analysis
Last reviewed May 28, 2026
TL;DR NIOSH-listed reusable full-face respirator — TC-23C-2514 verified at cdc.gov for the Moldex 9000 series full-face body — covering airway and eyes in one facepiece. Three body sizes (Small 9001 / Medium 9002 / Large 9003); over-molded frameless lens design reduces fogging versus traditional clamped-frame designs (nose-cup accessories 0094/0095 available separately for additional control). Sold body-only; compatible Moldex 9000-series cartridges sourced separately. Negative-pressure respirators cannot seal on a bearded face.
What it is and how it performs
The Moldex 9002 is a reusable full-face elastomeric respirator. NIOSH approval TC-23C-2514 (verified at cdc.gov for the Model 9000 Full Facepieces with Gas/Vapor Cartridge system) covers airway and eye protection simultaneously. Sold body-only — with a compatible Moldex cartridge (P100/OV sourced separately) the system handles solvent vapor, fine particulate, and overspray eye exposure. Three body sizes fit a range of face shapes; the 4-strap stand-away harness earns generally positive seal reports across 32 Amazon reviews. The over-molded frameless lens eliminates the traditional clamping frame, increasing field of vision and reducing fogging; one reviewer notes no fogging and unimpaired peripheral vision on sustained sessions. Note: the over-molded lens is integral to the facepiece — no manufacturer lens-replacement program exists; the 0093 Faceshield Protector cover film delays but does not replace the underlying lens.
Who should buy this — and who should skip it
Right pick for owners doing regular paint correction, body filler grinding, or solvent-based prep where overspray and particulate create concurrent eye and airway exposure. Budget for Moldex 9000-series cartridges separately; P100/OV combination covers the realistic car-care span. Skip for occasional dust-only work — a half-mask plus safety glasses is lighter and cheaper for infrequent use. Negative-pressure respirators cannot seal on a bearded face — that is a fitment fact across all negative-pressure respirators, not a defect of this product.
Safety and environmental impact
Health scores 9.5: TC-23C-2514 verified at the body level against cdc.gov, latex-free construction confirmed, no disclosed PFAS treatment; no deductions apply. Environment scores 4.6: reusable elastomeric body earns a lifecycle credit, but no manufacturer lens-replacement program (over-molded lens is end-of-life once scratched) and Moldex-proprietary cartridge mount limits multi-supplier options; cartridges are landfill-bound with no take-back program documented.

Fits great, filters great, I feel confident I'm protecting my lungs
Do I like the price? No. But when I saw how much concrete dust was coming out of those little pink filters, I was glad I paid it, because that would have been in my lungs otherwise.I wore this mask for hours without any discomfort. The 4 straps are really good at tightening the mask around my face to seal things up. You're supposed to have this professionally fitted, so I might have gotten lucky getting it to fit right while purchasing thru Amazon. In fact, I had some questions about the filters and contacted the manufacturer for clarification and that's when i found out about the fitting requirement. The guy seemed a little annoyed the mask was being sold without a fit test. And one thing's for sure, if you were using this in a dangerous gas environment, you would want it to fit tight (and get the right filters too.)I'm using this strictly to filter particulates like cement dust and sheetrock dust, and it's working great for that. The face shield keeps sheetrock dust out of my eyes, but there is a bit of cling to the mask that I sometimes stop to wipe off. So far I've kept the mask scratch free by using a micro fiber cloth to clean it, and it's doing great. Really happy with this.
