CarCareTruth's Analysis
Last reviewed May 15, 2026
TL;DR Removes glass hazing, contamination, and water spots effectively — community reviews confirm results on long-neglected windshields and stubborn mineral deposits. Community evidence does not confirm wiper arc scratch removal, and the manufacturer is explicit that this is not a scratch remover. Works with a DA polisher per at least one Amazon review. Sold as a EU SKU (G8408EU) on Amazon US.
What it is and how it performs
This is an aluminium oxide abrasive slurry designed to clean and restore automotive glass — not to remove wiper arc scratches. Amazon reviews document the cleaner-glass use case well: long-neglected windshields with years of buildup return to like-new clarity, and at least one reviewer confirmed removal of a stubborn rust stain from a windshield. Apply with a foam or felt applicator pad by hand or DA polisher, work the product across the glass surface in overlapping sections, and wipe off. The manufacturer recommends following up with a glass cleaner, and community reviewers confirm this is standard practice — a residue clean-up step is expected, not a sign of failure. Post-polish clarity is good once the follow-up wipe is done.
Who should buy this — and who should skip it
The right buyer is someone dealing with glass hazing, hard water spots, mineral deposits, or accumulated road film that glass cleaner cannot touch — this product addresses those problems with confirmed community evidence behind it. It also works well as a maintenance polish before applying a glass coating. Anyone trying to remove wiper arc scratches should skip it: the manufacturer's own label states clearly this is not a scratch remover, and community reviews corroborate that no scratch removal occurs. For actual wiper arc scratch removal, a dedicated cerium oxide glass polishing compound is the appropriate tool. Machine-compatible buyers can use a DA polisher, though hand application is well documented and just as effective for the contamination removal use case.
Safety and environmental impact
The EU REACH SDS (Meguiar's UK Ltd, revised November 2019) classifies this product as WARNING with H317 (Skin Sensitization Cat 1A) and H319 (eye irritation Cat 2). The H317 classification is driven by the CMIT/MIT biocide preservative (CAS 55965-84-9) at ≤0.002% — a potent skin sensitizer at trace concentrations. H317 (Skin Sensitization Cat 1A) mandates nitrile gloves during application and cloth handling per SDS §8. No respiratory H-codes appear in SDS §2, and the pre-mixed aqueous formula generates no significant vapour — the lungs PPE category is omitted. The product carries H412 (harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects) at the mixture level, driven by the anionic surfactants; the environment score reflects the drain-destined pathway through pad and cloth laundering. No Prop 65 warning. Note: the only available SDS is the EU REACH format (Meguiar's UK Ltd, 2019); the US GHS SDS remained Akamai-blocked at time of research and should be retrieved on a future improvement pass to confirm current US classification.
Frequently asked questions
Does this actually remove glass scratches?▾
No — Meguiar's is explicit on the US bottle label: 'This product is NOT a glass scratch remover.' Community reviews on Amazon confirm this: users who expected wiper arc scratch removal saw no improvement on actual glass defects. The compound removes hazing, contamination, and water spots — surface-level problems, not geometric scratches. For wiper arc scratches, a dedicated cerium oxide-based glass polishing compound is a better starting point.
What is the SKU G8408EU and why does it say EU?▾
G8408EU is Meguiar's European-market SKU for the 8 oz Perfect Clarity Glass Polishing Compound, sold via Amazon US as an import. The formula is the same product; the EU designation reflects the labeling and SDS format (EU REACH) rather than a different formula. The ASIN B07CSYZBNN resolves to this gray-market EU SKU on Amazon US.
Can I use this with a DA polisher?▾
Amazon reviews confirm machine use is possible — at least one verified reviewer reports using it with a polisher. No dedicated forum documentation of DA pad type, OPM settings, or specific technique was found at time of research. The product's aqueous cream consistency is physically compatible with a glass-specific foam or felt pad on a DA polisher at low OPM.
What does the SDS say about this product's safety?▾
The EU REACH SDS (2019 revision, Meguiar's UK Ltd) classifies the product as WARNING with H317 (skin sensitization Cat 1A), H319 (eye irritation Cat 2), and H412 (harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects). The H317 classification is driven by the CMIT/MIT preservative at ≤0.002%. No DANGER signal word, no H318 serious eye damage, no H335 respiratory irritation, no Prop 65 warning.
Do I need a follow-up glass cleaner after using this?▾
The manufacturer recommends following up with a glass cleaner, and at least one Amazon reviewer noted a residue that wasn't fully removed by the compound itself. The glass surface is clear after the polishing step, but a follow-up glass cleaner wipe is the standard procedure per community use — it's a clean-up step, not a sign the product failed.

Cleaned Off A Stubborn Rust Stain From Windshield!
Last fall, I had a piece of rusty metal get kicked up from a vehicle in front of me, landing dead center on my front windshield. I had tried cleaning it off with my normal automotive glass cleaner, but it didn’t have enough power to completely remove the damage. This stuff worked perfectly at cleaning off the rest of the stubborn rust stain, making my entire line of sight from the driver’s seat uninhibited. If you have a lighter scuff (doesn’t catch on your fingernail) or stubborn stains on your windows, this stuff should do the job and get it looking nice and clear again.
