TL;DR A mainstream 3-in-1 leather cleaner, conditioner, and protectant spray with broad community track record on routine cleaning — the trade-offs are a CMIT/MIT preservative that drives a skin-sensitizer warning and a California Prop 65 disclosure on the Amazon listing.
What it is and how it performs
Spray onto a clean microfiber or directly onto the leather, work it in with a soft brush, then wipe clean. A full interior takes 15–20 minutes. The aqueous-glycol formula handles routine cleaning reliably: body oils on the steering wheel and bolsters lift cleanly, surface dust comes up easily, and the silicone-based conditioning step leaves the leather looking refreshed for two to four weeks. Heavy work — set-in stains or severe denim dye transfer — frequently needs multiple passes or a dedicated foaming cleaner. Multi-year community use confirms no widespread drying or color-lift, which is the table stakes for a mainstream cleaner that has been on the shelf for over a decade.
Who should buy this — and who should skip it
Buy it if you want the most-stocked mainstream leather product on the market and don't have documented isothiazolinone sensitivity — it does the routine maintenance job competently and the price is hard to beat. Skip it if you have prior allergic reactions to industrial preservatives (CMIT/MIT is one of the most common patch-test sensitizers), if you're buying for restoration work on neglected leather, or if you actively avoid Prop 65-disclosed products. The Adam's Polishes and Leather Honey alternatives in this category have cleaner SDS profiles.
Safety and environmental impact
The EU CLP SDS reviewed classifies the product as not hazardous, but the supplemental EUH208 statement names the CMIT/MIT preservative as a potential allergic-reaction trigger — that is the dominant chemistry signal driving the moderate health score. The California Prop 65 warning on the Amazon listing names specific chemicals at trace levels not visible on the EU CLP SDS; the most likely candidates are trace preservative or co-solvent process residues. The 2-benzylideneheptanal fragrance ingredient is aquatic-toxic at the ingredient level and drives the environment score below the category median. The aqueous-glycol formula carries minimal VOC; ventilation is not required for normal interior application.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Prop 65 warning for?▾
The Amazon listing carries a California Prop 65 warning, but the EU CLP SDS reviewed (G17914) does not name the specific Prop 65 chemicals — California requires disclosure at trace levels far below federal hazard-classification thresholds. The most likely candidates given the SDS §3 disclosures are trace formaldehyde donor residues (from preservative chemistry) or 1,4-dioxane process residues from any ethoxylated co-ingredients. Meguiar's US ingredient page may name the specific chemicals; the SDS reviewed is the EU version because the US SDS hosting is bot-blocked and has been for at least two years.
Is the CMIT/MIT preservative a real concern?▾
It can be — for buyers with documented isothiazolinone sensitivity. CMIT/MIT (Kathon CG) is one of the most common causes of allergic contact dermatitis identified in dermatology patch-testing clinics, and the EU has tightly restricted it in leave-on cosmetic products for that reason. In a wipe-off leather cleaner at <0.0015%, the realized risk for the general population is low; people with prior reactions to industrial preservatives should pick a CMIT/MIT-free alternative. The supplemental EUH208 warning on the SDS exists specifically to flag this pathway.
Does the conditioning step actually work?▾
Community follow-up confirms the conditioning step delivers a noticeable refresh immediately after application and lasts 2–4 weeks — typical for 2-in-1 spray products. The conditioning agents (propylene glycol humectant + linear PDMS silicone) provide moisture retention and surface slip but do not penetrate as deeply as a dedicated long-form conditioner. For aged or neglected leather, follow up with a stand-alone conditioner (Lexol, Leather Honey) for deeper penetration.
Is it safe for perforated leather?▾
Meguiar's lists perforated leather as compatible. Community use on BMW and Mercedes perforated seats is broadly successful when the spray is applied to a microfiber and wiped promptly to prevent pooling in perforations. The aqueous-glycol formula is not chemically aggressive enough to damage perforation backings, but pooling liquid in any leather perforation is poor practice regardless of product.
Why does the SDS list 2-benzylideneheptanal as aquatic-toxic?▾
2-benzylideneheptanal (lily aldehyde, hexyl cinnamic aldehyde) is a fragrance ingredient that carries Aquatic Acute 1 (H400) and Aquatic Chronic 2 (H411) at the ingredient level. It is present at <0.2% in the product, which is below the product-level mixture threshold for environmental classification — so the `aquatic_toxic` health-bar flag is set false and no deduction is applied to the environment score. Real environmental impact is limited by the small application volume and the wipe-off pathway.

Very Nice Product
Cant go wrong with Maguire's products. I use this leather cleaner on both of our vehicles. It does a great job in removing any spots or residues and leaves a nice satin shine with mild , pleasant, clean, smell. I would recommend
