Prices may varyThe manufacturer's Safety Data Sheet classifies this product with one or more GHS Category 1 health hazards — the most severe tier. The hazard statements in quotes below are the verbatim GHS language from the SDS, as required by OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard. The line under each statement translates the GHS classification into plain language.
GHS Category 1 aspiration toxicity — thin, oily liquids can slip into the lungs if swallowed, causing chemical pneumonia.
If swallowed, inhaled, or splashed in eyes:
Call Poison Control immediately at 1-800-222-1222 (US, 24/7, free) and have the product container with you. Poison Control's standing guidance is to not induce vomiting after chemical exposure; they will direct first-aid steps based on the specific product.
About this product's hazards. This product's Safety Data Sheet uses signal word danger. Read the manufacturer's SDS and follow all safety instructions before use. CarCareTruth ratings translate the manufacturer's safety sheet. They do not replace the SDS or substitute for a hazard assessment specific to your task.
Health score is for adult use as intended, per the manufacturer's SDS. It does not model child ingestion, accidental spill cleanup, or off-label use. See the safety panel below for full hazard classification, and /disclaimer for the full editorial scope.
GHS hazard codes are quoted from the manufacturer’s Safety Data Sheet. PPE tiers below translate those codes and the listed ingredient chemistry; they are not CarCareTruth recommendations.

“Aerosol form factor creates mist near face level · a specific trigger for eye protection. No H319 or H318 at SDS §2 mixture level; DANGER signal word does not escalate eyes tier per rubric anti-escalation rule (health.md §PPE tier guidance).”

“H315 (skin irritation) at §2 mixture level · gloves limit skin contact with the petroleum-distillate carrier during prolonged handling. Brief incidental contact is the typical home-use scenario.”

TL;DR DANGER-rated aerosol · wear nitrile gloves and use outdoors or in a well-ventilated space. Community confirms it lubricates more durably than commodity petroleum-distillate sprays and leaves genuine corrosion protection on metal hardware.
This aerosol lubricant silences squeaky hinges, protects metal from moisture, and frees mildly stiff sliding mechanisms. The heavier base-oil component stays on the surface longer than lighter petroleum-distillate competitors; community owners document quiet hinges and smooth tracks for weeks to months per application. The SDS-confirmed corrosion inhibitor package delivers real rust prevention on tools and outdoor hardware between seasonal uses.
Right for homeowners dealing with squeaky hinges, stiff window tracks, garage-door hardware, and tools stored in humid conditions. Regular users in enclosed spaces should prefer a pump-spray or drip format to reduce aerosol inhalation. Skip for seized fasteners · that is penetrating-oil territory.
The SDS rates this DANGER · the aspiration hazard (may be fatal if swallowed and enters airways) is the primary driver; if ingested, do not induce vomiting and seek medical attention. Fine mist from aerosol application is the primary inhalation exposure; use in a ventilated area. H315 (skin irritation) is present at mixture level · nitrile gloves limit contact with the petroleum carrier. The base is not readily biodegradable, ingredients carry aquatic toxicity, and estimated VOC runs 400-550 g/L; keep overspray from storm drains.
BN stands for boron nitride · a dry-film additive with very low friction properties. The label claims it helps the lubricant film shed grit rather than trapping it. SDS §3 does not list boron nitride as a reportable ingredient (likely below the 1% threshold), so its concentration in the formula is very small. The primary lubrication comes from the petroleum-distillate carrier; the boron nitride is a supplemental additive.
Different formula, similar category. Both are aerosol petroleum-distillate lubricants, but the DuPont product uses a heavier C15-50 base oil component that is intended to leave a more durable residue. WD-40 is primarily a water displacer with short lubrication duration; this product is positioned as a durable lubricant with corrosion protection. Community owners note longer lubrication persistence for the DuPont product on hinges and sliding mechanisms.
The DANGER signal word is driven by H304 (aspiration hazard · may be fatal if swallowed and enters airways). This is a petroleum-distillate product; if swallowed, the thin carrier can enter the lungs rather than the stomach. Do not induce vomiting if ingested · seek medical attention immediately. H304 is present at the mixture level in the SDS §2 classification.
SDS §10 does not document specific incompatibilities with rubber or plastics, and community reviews do not report seal damage at typical use concentrations. The petroleum-distillate carrier is lighter than heavy mineral oils that swell rubber, but prolonged contact with EPDM or natural rubber seals should be avoided. Verify with the manufacturer for any sealed assembly before applying.
