TL;DR Community timing tests put the DCC020IB at roughly 4–5 minutes from flat to 35 PSI on a standard passenger-car tire, and the digital gauge reads within ±1 PSI of target at shutoff based on a single independent reviewer (not yet cross-confirmed). The triple power source — 20V MAX battery, 12V cigarette lighter, 110V AC — is the standout feature in its class.
What it is and how it performs
The DCC020IB is DEWALT's cordless-first air inflator running on the 20V MAX battery platform, with 12V DC and 110V AC as backup power modes. One timed community review (ToolGuyd) recorded 4:38 from flat to 35 PSI on a 235/45R17 — above the category median. Community-confirmed reliable performance reaches ~80 PSI, covering all passenger cars and light trucks; high-pressure performance above 100 PSI is not independently confirmed. The threaded chuck locks on with no holding required, and the LED light enables roadside use at night. DEWALT's 3-year warranty and 4.6★ across 17,900+ ratings point to above-average build reliability.
Who should buy this — and who should skip it
Best fit: an existing DEWALT 20V MAX owner who wants a trunk inflator that shares batteries already on hand. The triple power modes make it functional even without a charged battery. Skip it for motorcycle or bicycle tires above 100 PSI, where flow drop is documented; a dedicated high-pressure inflator handles those better. Skip it too if budget is the only criterion — simpler 12V-only units cost less.
Safety and environmental impact
No UL Listing or ETL Certification has been independently verified for the DCC020IB in North American safety databases as of May 2026. The product carries CE marking for EU import (self-declared conformity, not independently tested). No active CPSC recall is on record. The Amazon listing includes a California Proposition 65 warning related to the lithium battery and electronic components — this is a manufacturing-materials disclosure, not an indication of user chemical exposure during normal inflation use. At end of life, the removable 20V MAX battery is accepted at Call2Recycle locations (Home Depot, Lowe's); the tool body is standard e-waste.
Frequently asked questions
Does the DEWALT DCC020IB come with a battery?▾
No — the DCC020IB is a 'tool only' listing; the 20V MAX battery, charger, and 110V AC adapter are sold separately. If you already own any DEWALT 20V MAX or FLEXVOLT tools, your existing batteries will work. The inflator also runs on a 12V DC car cigarette lighter connection, so it's usable without a battery in a pinch.
How long does it take to inflate a flat car tire with the DEWALT DCC020IB?▾
Community timing tests show approximately 4–5 minutes from flat (0 PSI) to 35 PSI on a standard passenger-car tire. That is faster than most 12V-only portable inflators but slower than a shop compressor. On a single charge using a 20V MAX battery, the unit can fill 6 or more average passenger-car tires before the battery runs down.
Is the DEWALT DCC020IB UL listed or ETL certified?▾
No UL Listing or ETL Certification has been verified for the DCC020IB in North American safety databases as of May 2026. The product carries CE marking for European import compliance, which is a self-declared manufacturer conformity declaration rather than an independently tested certification. No active CPSC recall is on record for this model.
What is the maximum PSI the DEWALT DCC020IB can reach?▾
The manufacturer rates the DCC020IB at 160 PSI maximum, but community reviews note that practical high-pressure performance — consistent flow without stalling — is most reliable up to around 80 PSI. That range covers passenger cars (25–44 PSI), light trucks and SUVs (50–80 PSI), and sports cars. For motorcycles or high-pressure bicycle tires above 100 PSI, flow drop is documented in some community reports.
Can the DEWALT DCC020IB run off a car's cigarette lighter without a battery?▾
Yes — the unit ships with an onboard 12V DC cable and plug that connects to the car's cigarette lighter port. Community reviewers note that it's more effective when the engine is running (to avoid drawing down the car battery during a long inflation), but it works without a charged 20V MAX battery. The 110V AC adapter lets it run off household or shop power, though that adapter is sold separately.

Typical Great DeWalt Power Tool!
I have been using cheap battery-powered inflators for may years and finally got this one! Works super well compared to others, fairly high speed, set poundage and stops pumping automatically. Typical high DeWalt quality. Minor gripe: The automatic shut down feature clicks off within about two minutes. Have to turn it back on, re-set the auto tire pressure, and reconnect. Should have about a 10-minute auto shut down so you can get all your car tires taken care of without having to re-set everything in the middle of the job. All-in-all, a great inflator. Does have a hose and pump for inflating and deflating air mattresses. Have not tried that feature, but it looks fairly straight forward. Nice little door cubby for storing battery power cord. Aside from the auto shut-down feature, well thought through. Not a cheap inflator, but worth the money!
