Dinonylphenol Ethoxylate

  • Nonionic surfactants
  • CAS 9014-93-1
  • IUPAC: Poly(oxy-1,2-ethanediyl), α-(dinonylphenyl)-ω-hydroxy-

Low acute toxicity at typical product concentrations. Primary concern is the nonylphenol degradation pathway — confirmed endocrine disruptor in aquatic organisms.

Dinonylphenol ethoxylate is a branched-chain nonylphenol ethoxylate surfactant used as an emulsifier in silicone-water emulsion products. Like other NPEs, it degrades to nonylphenol, which is a persistent environmental contaminant with confirmed endocrine-disrupting activity in aquatic organisms. Subject to the same regulatory restrictions as other NPEs under EU REACH and Canadian CEPA.
