Decylamine Oxide (Decyl Dimethyl Amine Oxide)

  • Amphoteric surfactants
  • CAS 2605-79-0

Mild to moderate skin and eye irritant at concentrated use. Rapidly biodegradable. Not bioaccumulative. Low acute toxicity at consumer dilutions.

Decylamine oxide (N,N-dimethyldecylamine oxide) is an amphoteric amine oxide surfactant used as a foam booster and secondary co-surfactant in wheel cleaners and general-purpose cleaners. It is compatible with both anionic and cationic surfactants and functions across a wide pH range, including strongly alkaline formulas where it acts synergistically with alkyl sulfonates and silicate builders. Decylamine oxide is readily biodegradable and not bioaccumulative. At consumer dilutions, skin and eye exposure risk is low, though concentrated solutions are irritating. Aquatic toxicity is moderate and typical for anionic/amphoteric surfactant blends.
