Beeswax (CAS 8012-89-3) appears in 7 of the 1,812 car-care products CarCareTruth tracks (as of June 2026). It is readily biodegradable.
Non-toxic natural wax used widely in cosmetics, food products, and pharmaceuticals. No hazard classifications.
Beeswax is a natural wax secreted by honeybees to construct honeycomb. In car care, it's most commonly used as a matrix or binder in paste and liquid wax formulas — it adds workability and a consistent texture that pure carnauba (harder and more brittle) would lack on its own.
The wax holds carnauba particles in suspension and allows the product to spread smoothly and release cleanly when buffed. This is the classic carnauba-in-beeswax matrix used by P21S and other concours-grade German waxes.
Completely safe by any measure — used in cosmetics (lip balm, skin creams), food products, and pharmaceutical coatings. No GHS hazard classifications, no VOC content, no environmental concerns. One of the most benign ingredients in all of car care.

Health and environment notes translate the manufacturer Safety Data Sheet, the GHS classification, and authoritative regulatory listings (California Prop 65, EPA). Not medical advice. They describe the ingredient itself; whether a hazard applies to a finished product depends on its concentration and how it's used.
