Purple Power

Purple Power is a product line from Clean-Rite Products (now Purple Power, Inc.) based in Greenville, South Carolina. The brand has been a staple in auto parts stores and home improvement centers since the 1980s, built on a simple premise: an inexpensive, concentrated alkaline degreaser that cuts through grease, oil, and industrial grime on engines, auto parts, driveways, and equipment. The formula relies on sodium silicate as the active alkaline builder, making it effective on petroleum-based soils at very affordable per-use costs.

The automotive detailing community uses Purple Power primarily for engine bays, wheel wells, and heavy-duty exterior degreasing — tasks where its strong alkalinity and low price are advantages. It is generally not recommended for interior surfaces, leather, or painted panels at concentrate strength.
