Advics Co., Ltd. was founded in July 2001 by Aisin Seiki, Denso Corporation, Sumitomo Electric Industries, and Toyota Motor Corporation, combining the brake businesses of the founding companies into a single brake-systems supplier. The name is a combination of the initial letters of Advanced, Intelligent, Chassis, and Systems.
Aisin, Advics' primary parent, is roughly 30% owned by the Toyota Group, and in 2014 Toyota moved to consolidate its brake system engineering, manufacturing, and sales under Advics. Advics supplies original-equipment brake components (pads, rotors, calipers, and electronically controlled brake systems) for Toyota and other Asian-brand vehicles, and sells an aftermarket "Ultra-Premium" line of brake pads and rotors built to the same engineering specifications as its OE parts.
