Second-generation XC90 — the first vehicle on Volvo's Scalable Product Architecture (SPA). 2.0L inline-four across the lineup, twincharged for higher trims. T8 Recharge plug-in hybrid (400+ combined hp) is the performance flagship. Tasteful, minimalist Scandinavian interior. Three-row seating. Major 2020 mid-cycle refresh; another for 2023 model year.

Watch out: Twincharged engine complexity (super + turbo on the 2.0L). T8 high-voltage battery degradation and the electric-rear-axle motor are long-term cost watch-outs. Sensus infotainment (pre-2023) is slow vs. post-refresh Google-built-in software. Air suspension and adaptive dampers add expense out of warranty.
