Second-generation V70 on the Volvo P2 platform — internally P26. 2.4L / 2.5L turbocharged inline-five at various power levels. V70 R (2003-2007) is the performance icon: 300 hp turbo I5, AWD, four-corner active suspension. The Cross Country variant added raised ride height and standard AWD. Final classic 'boxy Volvo' wagon before P3 reshaping.

Watch out: Aisin AW55-50/51 5-speed automatic on most cars — solenoid wear common past 100k miles. PCV valve breather system clogs and creates oil-pressure issues. Power-steering pump and rack are wear items. Otherwise legendary durability — many of these run past 300k miles.
