Volkswagen Passat NMS (US-market B7)

20122019 · A3 · sedan

NMS Passat was a US-specific Passat sold 2012-2019 (sometimes referred to as B7 in the US market, though the global B7 is a different car). Built in Chattanooga, Tennessee. 2.5L I5 / 1.8T / 2.0L TDI diesel / 3.6L VR6. Larger and less expensive than the European Passat. TDI cars caught in the 2015 emissions buyback.

Watch out: 2.5L I5 is durable but heavy and unremarkable. 1.8T and VR6 share VW Group concerns of the era (carbon buildup, water pump). TDI cars affected by buyback. Interior plastics and trim are the chief 'feels cheap' complaint vs. the European-market B7.
