Mk6 US Jetta was a unique platform (New Compact Sedan) — cheaper than the Mk5, with rear torsion-beam suspension on most trims (only the GLI retained independent rear). 2.0L 8-valve, 1.4T (later), 1.8T (GLI mid-cycle), 2.0L TDI diesel, and 2.0L turbo (GLI). The GLI 2.0T is still the enthusiast trim. TDI cars caught in the 2015 emissions buyback.

Watch out: Decontented base trims — torsion-beam rear suspension feels its budget. GLI escapes most of that. TDI buyback affected 2.0L TDI cars 2011-2014. Cheap interior plastics (brittle door panels, etc.) are a long-term wear concern on base trims.
