First-generation Volkswagen Atlas, built in Chattanooga, Tennessee specifically for the North American market. 2.0T inline-four or 3.6L VR6 (280 hp). 4Motion AWD optional. Atlas Cross Sport (2020+) is the 5-seat sportier-roofed variant. 2024 mid-cycle refresh updated styling and made 2.0T the standard engine across the lineup. Family SUV competitor to Highlander, Pilot, Telluride.

Watch out: VR6 3.6L is generally durable but heavy and thirsty. 2.0T Atlas long-term reliability data is still developing — concerns about turbo and exhaust manifold longevity in a heavier vehicle than the Tiguan. Infotainment software bugs in early model years.
