Toyota Sequoia 1st Generation
2001–2007 · XK30/XK40 · suv
First-gen Sequoia shared its body-on-frame platform with the first-gen Tundra. 4.7L 2UZ-FE V8, 4-speed (later 5-speed) automatic, full-time or part-time 4WD on the SR5 and Limited trims. Reputation for drivetrain longevity matched by frame-rust complaints in salt-belt states.
Watch out: Frame rust — Toyota issued an extended warranty / buyback program on certain Tacomas of the same era; Sequoia frames are not covered but suffer similar perforation. Inspect rear frame rails and crossmembers before any purchase.
