Toyota RAV4 4th Generation (XA40)

20132018 · XA40 · suv

Fourth-gen RAV4 was four-cylinder only — the 2.5L 2AR-FE with a 6-speed automatic. The Hybrid arrived for 2016 with the 2.5L 2AR-FXE and E-CVT. Conservative styling, conventional design, strong resale. A steady seller that set up the explosive XA50 launch.

Watch out: Owner reports of water-pump leaks on 2AR-FE engines around 80-100k mi (common across the 2AR family — Camry, Highlander 4cyl), and infotainment screen delamination on early units.
