Fifth-gen Prius dropped the apologetic eco-car look for an aggressive low-slung shape, jumped to a 2.0L M20A-FXS Atkinson four hybrid (~194 hp combined, ~196 hp AWD-e), and the Prius Prime PHEV (with ~44 mi EPA EV range and ~220 hp combined) launched alongside. EPA combined still over 50 mpg on the standard hybrid.

Watch out: NHTSA recall 24V-274 (expanded as 26V-049) covers rear-door electronic-latch water-ingress on 2023-2026 Prius and Prius Prime — doors can short-circuit open after heavy water exposure (e.g. a car wash). Verify completion before buying.
