Toyota Prius 3rd Generation (XW30)
2010–2015 · XW30 · hatchback
Third-gen Prius bumped engine displacement from 1.5L to 1.8L (2ZR-FXE) for better highway efficiency, kept the planetary-gearset E-CVT (HSD), and grew slightly in every dimension. Plug-in Prius (limited-range PHEV) launched 2012. Prius v wagon and Prius c subcompact split off as separate model lines.
Watch out: NHTSA recall 14V-053 covered software for the inverter cooling system on roughly 1.9M Toyota hybrids of this era — verify it was performed. Owner reports of head-gasket failures around 150k mi on neglected examples.
