Toyota MR2 Spyder ZZW30 (3rd Generation MR2)
2000–2005 · ZZW30 · convertible
Third-gen MR2: stripped-down mid-engine roadster with the 1.8L 1ZZ-FE making 138 hp, 5-speed manual or SMT sequential. Last MR2 sold in the US — Toyota discontinued the MR2 alongside the Celica at the end of MY2005 due to low volume.
Watch out: 1ZZ-FE pre-2003 oil consumption is the headline issue — early piston/ring design caused gradual oil burn that many owners discovered only at the dipstick check. Toyota revised the pistons mid-run; later cars are better.
