Toyota Highlander 3rd Generation (XU50)
2014–2019 · XU50 · suv
Third-gen Highlander launched with the 3.5L 2GR-FE V6 and 6-speed auto, then switched to the direct-injected 2GR-FKS V6 with an 8-speed automatic for the 2017 refresh. A 4-cylinder base trim and Hybrid (with the 2GR-FXE) were offered. Reputation for boring competence and high resale value.
Watch out: Owner reports of mid-gen 8-speed shift-feel complaints (similar to Tacoma 3rd-gen 6AT but less severe), and water-pump weeping on V6 engines past 80k mi.
